Position Summary: The Lead Pastor is responsible for leading the church in a balanced program to accomplish the purposes of God as described in scripture: Worship; Discipleship, Evangelism, Ministry & Fellowship (Matthew 22:36-40 and 28:18-20)

 

Qualifications: The Lead Pastor must meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor/elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9). He must be a licensed or ordained minister of the Gospel who will demonstrate growth through continued seminary classes from an accredited institution.  He must demonstrate appropriate theological, doctrinal, and administrative skills to adequately fulfill the requirements of the position.  A graduate of an accredited seminary is preferred.  In addition, all pastors must agree to the qualifications and statement of faith outlined in the church constitution which is in alignment with the Baptist Faith & Message (adopted June 2000).

 

Responsibilities:

 

Administration:

·            Lead the church staff and give overall administrative leadership to the entire church program particularly through various administrative and ministry committees.

·            Facilitate regular staff meetings

·            Provide clear vision and direction for the church

·            Recommend and advise on the selection and responsibilities of all staff members.

·            Serve as chairman of the church council.

·            Provide oversight of the planning and administration of the annual church budget.

 

Worship

·       Preach at least 46 Sunday morning worship services each calendar year.  In the event of absence, arrange for someone to perform this function.

·       Lead or delegate the leadership of other worship services or events.

·       Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the church ordinances.

·       Support Siloam Christian School chapel services.

 

Discipleship:

·            Lead the congregation to develop as mature Christians by encouraging personal spiritual growth and training for ministry.

·            Determine effective Discipleship programs and equip believers within the church to lead various programs.

·            Counsel with and assist in training deacons for their service to the Church.

 

 

 

 

Evangelism:

·            Proclaim the gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to others.

·            Lead the church to be involved in mission work and to support missions throughout their community, state, country, and world.

·            Equip members to serve in missions throughout their community, state, country, and world.

 

Ministry:

·            Lead the staff and the church in caring for people in the church and the community.

·            Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies as he is able, sharing and delegating to other qualified staff or members if needed.

·            Share in the total ministry of the church staff, which includes such matters as hospital visitation, prospect visitation and full support and personal involvement in staff projects.

 

Fellowship:

·            Lead the church to develop meaningful relationships through fellowship activities.

·            Lead the church as a family and encourage members to support and pray for one another.

·             Facilitate ways to assimilate new believers into membership.
