First Baptist Jamestown exists to glorify God by making disciples who take the gospel to the ends of the earth. We are seeking a Family Pastor who will work under the Pastor’s leadership in fulfilling FBCJ’s mission by making disciples in our church’s youth, children, and families.

Qualifications:

  • Meet the biblical qualifications for a pastor set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Must theologically align with the BFM 2000
  • Member of FBCJ (if married, wife must become an active member as well)
  • Must commit to tithing to FBCJ
  • Lead a ministry based on the principles of discipling and equipping others found in Ephesians 4:11-12
  • Skills with technology are a plus
  • Seminary or Bible college degree preferred but not required (may be in progress)
  • Previous experience in children or student ministry preferred
  • Salary commensurate with educational level and experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist pastor in developing and carrying out a long-term discipleship plan for the youth and children of the church
  • Create and carry out a vision for the children, youth and family ministries so that they will function together as a whole
  • Perform regular pastoral duties when needed, including but not limited to visitation, counseling, baptisms, communion, etc.
  • Meet regularly with the pastor for encouragement, discipleship and accountability
  • Recruit, train, and equip volunteers in the areas of responsibility
  • Plan youth events and trips. These events should include mission work, conferences/camps, and regular events throughout the year
  • Coordinate children’s activities with the Children’s committee and volunteers to establish a healthy children’s ministry. These requirements will include but are not limited to: VBS (not leading, but participating), community/outreach events, children’s ministry curriculum selection and volunteer development
  • Teach youth on Wednesday night and coordinate Wednesday activities for children
  • Disciple the Student Leadership team, which is made up of student leaders
  • Invest in parents and families to assist in worship and disciple-making in the home
  • Multiple preaching opportunities throughout the year (if desired)
