ActivePastor Job Description — First Southern Baptist Church of Duncan, Arizona
Position Information
Position Title: Pastor
Reports To: Church Members
Status: Bi‑Vocational or Retired Pastor
Compensation: Part Time – No Parsonage Available
Overview
First Southern Baptist Church of Duncan is a small, rural congregation seeking a Pastor who is called to shepherd a close‑knit church family. Because we are a small church with limited financial resources, we are looking for a bi‑vocational pastor or a retired pastor who desires to serve faithfully in a part‑time capacity. Our church values Biblical preaching, loving pastoral care, and a strong relationship with our local community.
Our church also supports the local Food Bank Ministry. This ministry is a blessing to our community because it provides much needed support to families in need. We also support a Spanish Ministry in Lordsburg, NM.
Duncan, Arizona, is a small, close-knit rural town in far southeastern Arizona, located along the scenic Gila River just a few miles from the New Mexico border. The community is surrounded by mountains, working ranches, historic mining areas, and fertile farmland, giving it a peaceful Old West character and a strong sense of heritage.
With a population of roughly 660–720 residents depending on the year, Duncan offers a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere where generations know one another and community life is valued. Local schools serve as a central point of pride, and the area’s agricultural and ranching roots continue to shape daily life. Duncan is a heavily Mormon influenced community. Farming and a nearby copper mine play a central role in our community, providing employment and economic stability for most of our residents.
Duncan is an ideal setting for someone who enjoys small-town living, strong community relationships, and the beauty of rural Arizona while still being within reach of larger communities in Graham and Greenlee Counties.
