About the Position:
Forest Grove Baptist Church is prayerfully searching for the man God is preparing to minister to our fellowship. This is a part time position.

The Pastor shall be a man who boldly professes Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord and Master, having been called by God into the Ministry of the Gospel, be a Holy Spirit-filled and Spirit-led individual, devoted to prayer and teaching the Bible with excellence, clarity, and a spiritually grounded message relating to life. He shall have Christian character and qualifications that are consistent with the principles of faith and doctrine as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message (a statement adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention June 14, 2000).

This position will champion the mission of the church by implementing a clear and renewed vision for the body of Christ. The successful candidate must be highly relational and have a heart for reaching the next generation.

The Pastor will wholeheartedly support the “Purpose” of Forest Grove Baptist Church which is the following:

To be a witness to the lost and unchurched, first to the Forest Grove community then throughout the world, will focus our worship, prayers, evangelism and fellowship so as to glorify God and present His Son, Jesus Christ, as the only way to Salvation, that His church may grow. Pastor provides counsel or support to church members in a variety of ways: offering advice, counseling during challenging times, for pre-marital couples, visiting nursing homes, shut-ins, and hospitals through the most effective means possible. To effectively fill this role, pastor needs several biblically-directed qualities, such as compassion, kindness and empathy.

The Pastor shall be the administrative head of the church and shall coordinate and approve absences and vacations by other church staff members and employees.  All paid employees of the church will be supervised by the pastor or by someone to whom that responsibility is designated in writing by the pastor. They will work with the Deacon, Yokefellows, church staff and other key leadership to carry out the mission and purpose of the church. Along with leadership, they oversee all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the church.

What We Are Searching For/Qualifications:
Requirements for eligibility are a seminary degree and a preference for a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pastor. He shall be an ordained minister. The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills. He will be a creative problem solver with the ability to identify opportunities that will increase the growth in membership across all age groups. This candidate will be characterized by a pastoral heart with a commitment to the core values of Forest Grove Baptist Church.
