ABOUT THE STUDENT MINISTRY PASTOR/DIRECTOR

Fort Caroline has a strong and stable youth ministry focused on making disciples who love Jesus and His Word. The Student Ministry Pastor/Director will be responsible for leading the ministry forward in alignment with the church’s vision and mission. This key role will report to the Lead Pastor and has the potential to grow into more leadership as our church grows. The student ministry has a great team of adult volunteers leading groups, a recently-renovated worship and gathering space, and more than enough rooms for small groups to meet in.  The ideal candidate is someone with at least 2 years of student ministry experience who has a proven track record of outreach, discipleship, and leadership development.

Fort Caroline Baptist Church is a rapidly growing church in the East Arlington neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL. Planted as a mission in 1978 and constituted in 1982, FCBC has a rich history of reaching their community for Christ. As a truly multigenerational church, Fort Caroline is home to a vibrant group of seniors, a dynamic kids ministry, and every age in between. The church is committed to the gospel above all, to deep discipleship, and to God’s mission in our community and around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions:

• Implement, evaluate, and continually improve the overall discipleship strategy for students in our church.
• Provide excellent oversight and leadership to student ministry staff, residents, and interns.
• Develop and execute a strategy to reach students for Christ, integrate them into the life of our church, disciple them, and help them to live on mission.
• Recruit and develop great volunteer teams to carry out the mission in student ministry.
• Work alongside parents to assist them in making disciples of their kids.
• Establish and execute a plan for leadership development among students.

Job Duties:

• Plan and execute weekly student ministry gatherings and small groups.
• Plan and execute various retreats, camps, and events.
• Attend staff and departmental meetings.
• Regularly communicate with parents and students.
• Assist in churchwide ministries and events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must model a deep commitment to Christ and His mission.
• Must adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000.
• Must be committed to the mission, vision, and values of Fort Caroline Baptist Church.
• Must have experience working with students.
• Bachelor’s degree required; a seminary degree or willingness to pursue one preferred.
