Worship Leader Part Time

Principal Role:

The role of the Worship Leader is to oversee the music ministry team of the Church by developing, coordinating, and administering Spirit-led worship while providing leadership and supervision of the music programs and the technical staff and equipment.

Job Description:

This year-round position is defined as salary, restricted part-time at an average twenty (20) to thirty (30) working hours per week. Position is eligible for pre-approved overtime (time and ½ pay) beginning at forty (40) or more working hours per pay week. Expectation of attendance is for Sunday worship, rehearsals with the Worship Choir and Worship Band, and other special services including (but not limited to) Revivals, Christmas, and Easter. The work is done cooperatively with the Pastor and Music Committee. As part of the Leadership of the Church, the Worship Leader is expected to advocate for the music program.

Ministerial Responsibilities:

  • Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style – drawing people in, encouraging participation, and pointing to Jesus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work weekly with the Pastor to plan, prepare, and provide direction for blended worship services

  • Oversee both a Worship Choir and Worship Band through recruitment, rehearsals, and musical training, Include the choir and/or band as a regular part of worship where it fits stylistically.
  • Lead and direct worship at weekly scheduled and special services, utilizing worship teams.
  • Enlist and use the talents within the church congregation
  • Oversee and provide direction to vocalists, music ministry team, and technicians responsible for audio, visuals, lighting, and other worship-related technical equipment (ProPresenter, Easy Worship, Aviom System, Live Stream, etc…)
  • Implement logistical details and provide support and expertise for concerts, musicals, and special evangelistic efforts that involve music and other technical areas of the church
  • Serve and attend meetings as a member of the Church Staff, Council, and Music Committee as written in By-Laws

Office Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with all worship teams, paid music staff, volunteers, Music Committee members, and other music ministry teams in the Church
  • Select and purchase all needed music, equipment, and instruments, as well as all related resources in music and worship.
  • Oversee maintenance of the music library, materials and supplies, musical instruments, and equipment involved in the music ministry
  • Maintain copyright records and adhere to lawful guidelines applicable to the use of copyrighted material

Position Requirements:

  • Agreement with and observance of the Southern Baptist Faith and Message 2000
  • Born again Christian, servant-hearted, with a genuine passion for worship, music, and Christian unity
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) OR education of music and musical direction experience
  • Ability to sing, read, and teach music
  • Ability to play and perform using a musical instrument (Piano or Guitar preferred)
  • Ability to understand and appreciate both traditional and contemporary musical styles
  • Basic knowledge using:
    • Social Media platforms
    • Microsoft Office suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel)
    • Google suite products (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meets) (preferred)
