Gateway Church is seeking to fill a newly created staff position to address the need for an Associate Pastor with focus on Student Ministry. Gateway Church is a growing church located in the heart of Del Norte, Colorado, a beautiful mountain town settled in the San Luis Valley.

This full-time position is based on the needs within our church and our surrounding community. Our mission as a church is to, “Know Christ and to make Him known.” One area to fulfill this mission is in connecting with youth aged children and teens from middle school to high school.

Principal Function:

Associate Pastor with the focus on Student Ministry

Associate Pastor role and responsibilities:

1.       The associate pastor will assist the Senior Pastor in the following areas

a.       Plan an annual preaching schedule, and other related discipleship classes

b.       Fill the pulpit when needed

c.       Attend Elder and Deacon meetings monthly

d.       Attend weekly staff meetings

e.       Assist with the duties and responsibilities of Sunday Morning Worship

Student Minister’s duties and responsibilities:

1.       The Student Ministry is a ministry that will minister to middle school-age children to high school-age teenagers.

2.       In consultation with the Senior Pastor, seek to plan and conduct a comprehensive Student Ministry that is appropriate in size and scope for Gateway.

3.       Clearly articulate, proclaim, and teach the Scriptures. Enable the students to grow in their faith and share the gospel with confidence.

4.       Display the ability to organize and keep a planning calendar that includes annual teachings/studies, outreaches, events and retreats.

5.       Plan and direct Student Ministry Sunday for every 5th Sunday church service.

6.       Provide regular communication with parents in the direction and purpose of Student Ministry. Able to plan quarterly parent and student meetings.

7.       Form and keep a Student Ministry Leadership team to aid in the operation of the Student Ministry. This leadership team is designed to help in the organization, planning and support of the Student Ministry.

8.       Be willing and able to maintain and report accurate financial records for all student related spending (In relation to student ministry budget). Be responsible to submit purchase orders for student ministry funds to the finance committee as a part of the annual budget preparation process.

Salary Package is broken down as follows:

• $47,000 total salary which includes housing allowance
• Annual Salary based on a 40 hour work week.

In office hours are- Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-12pm

Service times

• Wednesday Family night- 5:30pm-9pm
• Sunday Mornings 8:15am-12pm

Remaining hours required are based on study, preaching, teaching, attending events, outreach and visitation, a summer retreats.

Included in package:

• One week paid vacation per year
• Six days of sick leave per year (if needed)
