Associate Pastor of Youth & Family Ministries 

Job Description: 

The Associate Pastor of Youth & Family Ministries will play a vitally important role in the overall ministry of Grace Bible Church. He will work as a key member of the pastoral team (And ultimately as a member of the Elder Board) to serve the body of Grace through the gifting and passion given to Him by God. He will seek to love God above all else by caring for his own family and for the family of God in this local church. His primary responsibility will be to contribute to the overall purpose of the church by concentrating on youth and family ministries. This full-time position reports to the Senior Pastor. 

Qualifications: 

This person should possess at least an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university, with preference given to those with Bible/theology degrees and/or degrees focused on youth ministry, pastoral ministry, etc. He should have a genuine love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a lifestyle marked by integrity, and a real sense of calling to pastoral ministry. He should have a vision and a passion for developing relationships with and ministering specifically to jr. and sr. high students, as well as a heart for God-centered, gospel-driven, family-based youth ministry. He should possess the necessary temperament, gifting, and skill-set to be successful in this endeavor. He will be expected to meet the biblical qualifications for leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1) and be marked by genuine humility. Musical ability (Singing, playing guitar/piano, and leading worship) is preferred but is not a requirement. 

The following is a description of the primary responsibilities: 

I. General Leadership and Administration 

This individual will: 

A. Serve on the Pastoral Team, helping to provide overall direction and administration for Grace Bible Church; and will assist the Senior Pastor in a variety of ministry areas as requested. 

B. Maintain regular office hours and availability for general pastoral responsibilities; and will fulfill teaching and other various responsibilities as required; maintaining good communication, cooperation, and coordination with staff, Elder Board, and congregation at large. 

C. Participate in the planning and implementation of regular church services and gatherings. 

D. Participate in and contribute to various church-wide endeavors such as the Living Nativity, Grace Adventure Camp, and VBS. 

E. Finally, the candidate should possess a desire to serve in other areas within the overall ministry of the church, such as preaching & teaching, discipleship, congregational care, etc.

II. Youth & Family Ministry 

This individual will: 

A. Work to develop relationships with and establish a ministry to both jr. and sr. high students and their families focused on Biblical teaching, discipleship, integration into the overall life of the church, and evangelism training. 

B. Develop, conduct, and evaluate year-round, weekly, age-appropriate programs/activities that promote growth, outreach, service, and fellowship for junior and senior high youth. 

C. Develop, lead, and administrate retreats, missions trips, service projects, etc. specifically geared toward students. 

D. Create and encourage inter-generational opportunities for the youth to serve and be mentored in the greater context of the church at-large. 

E. Strategically engage with and mentor youth on a 1-on-1 basis, while at the same time establishing cooperative relationships with their parents/guardians. The pursuit of these relationships should include attending sporting events, social events, etc. 

F. Recruit, cultivate, and disciple other adults who can in turn mentor/disciple youth and help with specific tasks in the ministry. 

G. Engage with and provide support to other children’s/family ministries, including Sunday School and Wednesday evening programs.

*Grace Bible Church is made up of approximately 250 people located about 40 minutes outside of Buffalo, NY.  We are loosely associated with the Southern Baptist Convention but operate independently from any denomination, and are led primarily by the Board of Elders who meet monthly with the Deacon Board and regularly seek congregational affirmation for significant decisions, etc.  We value Bible-centered expository preaching and God-exalting worship.  You can find us at www.gbcnewfane.com.
