The purpose of the Pastoral Internship at Greenacres Baptist Church is to develop and equip individuals to serve the local church. The purpose will be fulfilled by working alongside the Pastor and the elders to learn the activities and skills required to lead ministries in a local church. The Pastoral Intern(s) will be mentored by the Pastor.

The Pastoral Intern(s) will engage in all aspects of church life and will be required to join Greenacres Baptist Church as a member. This program is designed to be completed in 12-18 months. As a part-time employee of the church, you will be compensated at $2,000 a month. If you have further questions, send your inquiries to:

DISCOVER (first two months of internship)

The intern will take time to transition and get acquainted to the area and to GBC. The intern will find ways to engage and reach out to the local community. During this time, they will learn the mission and values of GBC and get to know it’s members.

Seek Seminary and Bible Training options

Establish personal and ministry goals

DEVELOP (18 months of internship)

Working with the rest of the leadership of GBC, the intern will help GBC grow and develop ministries in the church. They will be a part of community outreach and assist newcomers, long time attendees, and members in taking their next step toward Jesus and church membership.

Upon completion of internship, if approved by the Pastor and GBC leadership, the intern may have the opportunity to join the staff of GBC, be sent out to assist in another ministry, or be assisted in finding other ministry opportunities in the area.

INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS AND OVERVIEW

As a part of the leadership of GBC, you will gain ministry experience by serving in your particular area of interest but also in other areas of the church’s ministries including children/youth, community outreach, evangelism, preaching/teaching, ministry training, and administration.

·      Interns will be considered part-time employees of the church.

·      Interns will seek to live within the church’s community they seek to reach.

·      Interns will take a self-assessment to help clarify strengths and growth opportunities.

·      Interns will participate in workshops, trainings, and planned leadership events.

·      Interns will help prepare the calendar, which includes scheduling, planning, and attending GBC events.

·      Interns will meet weekly with the pastor for review, cohorts, planning, and encouragement.

·      Interns will be accountable for making ministry contacts every day to minister to individuals and families in order to share the gospel and connect them to the life and ministry of GBC.

·      Interns will join a small group to help assist or start a new small group.

·      Interns are required to spend time in the community sharing the hope of Christ.

·      Interns are required to participate and help in weekly worship gatherings and ministry activities of GBC.
