Purpose: In accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Timothy 5:17, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4, the Pastor is responsible for leading the church Body in carrying out its mission as a New Testament Church. The Pastor is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, conducting the ordinances and functions of worship, teaching and equipping the church body, engaging in pastoral care, providing administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and supervising church staff. The Pastor reports to the Deacons of the church.
Qualifications:
Education of a high school diploma or greater
Preferred education of a BA or greater
Called to the mission by a Church of Baptist faith
Demonstrated support or affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention
Expository and true to the Bible in his delivery manner
A Man (if married) is to be devoted to his Wife and Family
Humble, Gentle, Peaceful, and a lover of goodness
Sober, self disciplined, and respectable
Hospitable
A faithful servant with financial integrity
Above reproach
Spiritually mature and an example to the church body
Able to teach
Agree to uphold the Church’s Statement of Faith
Skills:
Able to explain and expound upon the gospel of Jesus Christ in a loving and understanding manner
Approachable
A strong leader
Intentional for Relationships
Family counselor
Strong in verbal and written communication
Organized and Scheduled
Motivated and willing to serve
Musician Preferred
Responsibilities:
Worship
Regularly preach and teach the Word of God and ensure the faithful proclamation of the Gospel
Study God’s Word for explanation, understanding, illustration, and application of biblical principles for believers to use in everyday life
Lead and preach services which are not limited to, but generally (1) Worship Service on sunday mornings and (1)on wednesday evenings
Lead the Church to function as a New Testament Church
Plan and lead worship services, Bible studies, etc., in conjunction with the deacons and church staff
Officiate at weddings, funerals, nursing home services, etc. as needed from the request of church members
To administer the ordinances of baptism.
To administer the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper in conjunction with the Deacons
To administer the ordinances of Children’s Dedication Ceremonies.
Pastoral Care
Provide pastoral care through visitation, counseling, and prayer
Outreach
Lead the church in evangelism and outreach with the good news of Jesus Christ
Direct the assimilation of new members into the life of the congregation
Encourage all Ministries of the church to welcome others to participate in the mission work of Christ
Administration
Oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregations ministry
Serve as moderator of business meetings
Attend deacon’s meetings
Support, supervise, encourage, and evaluate staff members
Promote faithful financial stewardship and congregational benevolence
