Herald Baptist Church of Herald, California is seeking a part time bi-vocational Pastor for our
congregation, who would be located in or near our rural community. Salary is $24,000 a year divided into

Herald is about an 8 square mile rural farming and ranching community with a population of about 1,100
consisting of about 370 households and a small town center. There is a post office, volunteer fire
department, public park, a public elementary school, a small grocery market, a thrift store, a tack and
consignment store, a very active community club and a church. We are in southern Sacramento County
located very close to the Sierra foothills, 1 hour from the top of the Sierra mountain range and 3 hours
from the Pacific Ocean.
We need a shepherd for our flock who is a Bible believing and preaching man, who adheres to the Baptist
Faith and Message. We must have a Pastor who cultivates a close devotional relationship with God and
as such exhibits that he knows Him through experience. We ask God for a man full of faith, courage,
hope and vision to help lead our community church and congregation into a life-giving refuge in the midst
of a world full of hopelessness and despair. He must meet the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
He needs to lead the church to fulfill the Great Commission by equipping us to carry out the five functions
of a New Testament Church: worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry and fellowship. His personal
qualities should include being humble, vulnerable, self-controlled, joyful, action and goal oriented, caring,
approachable, ethical with strong moral character, trustworthy, faithful, willing to grow and change,
devoted to his marriage and family, and willing to persevere in God’s work.
Herald Baptist Church can offer/is:
$2,000 per month ($24,000/year) with no other monetary compensation and 2 weeks of vacation.
An aging congregation unified and willing to revitalize and grow.
In a rural small town in southern Sacramento County California.
Herald Baptist Church was founded in 1979 and has SBC and Associational ties.
In a slow growing community, mostly empty nesters with fast approaching residential urban expansion.
The closest larger town is 3-6 miles away, Galt, Ca. with a population of about 40,000 and a fast
approaching urban expansion plan with 2 large subdivisions now under construction within a few miles of
the church.
Near larger more densely populated cities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, Lodi and
Stockton. All are north or south of the church from 15-30 miles away.
Herald Baptist Church is praying for a Pastor who:
Can meet 1 Timothy 3 requirements and has two years pastoral experience.
Can fill the pulpit during the Sunday morning worship service.
Can be present for visitation both before and after the Sunday morning worship service.
Can be reasonably accessible by phone to take or make phone calls to the ill and have discussions with
church members.
Can attend all church council meetings (monthly) and church business meetings (quarterly).
Recommended but not required – Can be present during one Bible study a week (Wednesday night or
Sunday morning, Sunday morning preferred).
