Teaching Pastor – Cross Community Church

Position Overview: The Teaching Pastor will lead and shepherd the congregation of Cross Community Church in Lake Asbury through biblical preaching, pastoral care, leadership development, and oversight of all campus ministries. This role exists to faithfully execute the mission and vision of Hibernia Baptist Church by providing spiritual leadership, equipping leaders, developing disciples, and ensuring the health and growth of the congregation.

Reports Directly to: Associate Pastor

Reports Indirectly to: Lead Pastor

Prerequisites

  • Affirm the Hibernia Baptist Church statements of belief and practices as codified in our organizational bylaws and detailed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
  • Ability to meet the requirements for membership at Hibernia Baptist Church
  • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ with a call to the ministry
  • Committed to personal evangelism
  • Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Committed to doctrinal faithfulness, personal integrity, and Christlike character
  • Strong team player who embraces a collaborative ministry environment.
  • Proven ability to lead people and develop leaders
  • Fully embraces and champions the mission and direction of Hibernia Baptist Church.
  • Maintain a high standard of excellence and moral character
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional and positive demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

General Responsibilities

  • Lead Cross Community Church as a unified expression of Hibernia Baptist Church, ensuring the vision of the whole church guides the ministries and direction of the campus.
  • Serve as the primary preacher and teacher for Cross Community Church while collaborating with the Lead Pastor and Teaching Team to ensure biblical faithfulness, theological consistency, and alignment across campuses.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and assist with leadership of regular Church-wide events.
  • Oversee the Cross Community Church staff by providing leadership, accountability, coaching, and support to ensure ministry alignment and excellence.
  • Oversee the process of connecting, following up with, and assimilating guests into the life and membership of Cross Community Church.
  • Ensure the healthy birth, development, and multiplication of Bible Study Groups for adults as well as groups and other ministries for preschool, children and students.
  • Identify, recruit, train, deploy, and shepherd leaders through the Leadership Pipeline to develop healthy teams and multiply ministry impact.
  • Implement contextually appropriate outreach methods to the community.
  • Involve the members in hands-on mission efforts as God leads.
  • Network with sister churches and community leaders to maximize ministry impact.
  • Serve as the Cross Community Church liaison to the appropriate facilities director of the temporary meeting place until a permanent location is secured.
  • Manage the budget to meet the financial needs of the congregation.
  • Provide oversight to and responsible for executing Sunday worship services.
  • Provide Pastoral care to the members of the campus & community.
  • Pursue ongoing development as a preacher, pastor, and leader.
