Senior Pastor Full Time

High View Baptist Church (SBC) in Woodland Park, Colorado is looking for a senior Pastor to begin as early as May 2025. The requirements for this position are a Master of Divinity or a Master of Theological Studies from a Southern Baptist Seminary (preferred) with at least (3) years of pastoral experience in a Southern Baptist Church (preferred).

Pastor Job Description

A.     The Pastor is responsible to provide spiritual leadership to the congregation for the purposes of proclamation of the gospel, edification of believers, and growth of a church community committed to mutual care. Detailed duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.      Supervising the worship program of the church by:

a.      Preaching at all scheduled worship services or arranging for a suitable substitute in his absence.

b.     Administering (or supervising the administration of) the ordinances of the church. Ordinances are recognized as Baptism by Immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

c.      Securing the services of speakers and musicians for special meetings.

d.     Officiating at weddings and funerals.

2.      Attending to pastoral care of the church by:

a.      Visiting the sick, shut-in, new members, prospective members, the bereaved and those in need.

b.     Meeting with church members and others who may desire or require spiritual guidance.

3.      Providing administrative direction and leadership to the church by:

a.      Attending the meetings of, and conferring with, the Fellowship of Deacons.

b.     As Chairman of the Pastoral Leadership Team, providing overall leadership and guidance to the entire church program.

c.      As Leader of the Church, ensuring, in consultation with the Moderator, Treasurer, and Clerk, that business matters of the Church are attended to.

d.     Participating with the Budget Committee in the formulation of the annual church budget.

e.      Attending such association and denomination meetings as necessary.

f.        In the absence of the Moderator and a Deacon, opening business meetings and appointing a temporary moderator to conduct the business meeting.

g.      To manage his personal finances with integrity so as not to bring reproach upon the church.

4.      Maintaining active involvement in professional, educational and denominational training pursuits to enhance effectiveness in ministry.

B.     Required Training and Experience – a Master of Divinity or a Master of Theological Studies from a Southern Baptist Seminary (preferred) with at least three (3) years of pastoral experience in a Southern Baptist Church (preferred).

C.    Special Requirements to serve Pastor of the church.

1.      Converted and called to the pastoral ministry.

2.      Licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Southern Baptist churches.

3.      Spiritual and personal integrity and maturity.

4.      Ability and willingness to share Christ and disciple others.

5.      Positive human relations skills.

6.      Self-motivated.

7.      Ability to communicate well though a pulpit ministry.

8.      Proven love for the fellowship of a local church.

9.      Ability to empathize with the deep concerns of the congregation.

D.    Leadership brings with it an inherent responsibility to lead by example (John 13:15; 1Cor. 11:1; Phil 3:17; 2 Thess. 3:7; 1 Tim. 4:12; Titus 2:7). Holders of this position should faithfully support the program ministries of High View Baptist Church, with special emphasis on Sunday morning Bible study and worship.
