About the Role
Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we are seeking a pastor to join our ministry to build
young disciples for Jesus Christ. This person will develop and implement a comprehensive
program for our Core Areas Ministry. This ministry will include children’s and youth
departments, and will address the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission and
outreach. The primary task of this comprehensive approach will be to love all where they are,
to encourage everyone in developing their relationship with Jesus Christ, and to provide
opportunities for nurturing and growth. This individual will also serve as an elder in our church,
as well as a spiritual leader and role model.
Responsibilities
• Be an advocate for children and youth.
• Educate the congregation about the hopes and needs of the children and youth in the local
church and in the community.
• Plan, develop and implement all aspects of a balanced children’s and youth ministry to
include group building, worship, discipleship, mission and outreach.
• Recruit and train volunteer teachers and leaders to work with the Core Areas in all aspects
of these ministries, ensuring adequate volunteer support and observing the Child/Youth
Protection Policy in all ministry settings.
• Mentor teachers and students in developing their leadership and teaching skills.
• Support and guide Core Areas leaders, or equivalent body, in planning meetings, as well as
an annual evaluation of the vision and goals of the Core Areas ministry.
• Coordinate curriculum for Core Areas.
• Be aware of resources for developing the Core Areas ministry programming and participate
in continuing education events and training opportunities.
• Keep records of participation and manage various ministry budgets.
• Work in partnership with the Elder Team to effectively reach children and youth in the
community and develop a strategic ministry outreach plan for both areas.
• Maintain communication with church leadership, parents and the congregation.
• Be available to the Core Areas in a variety of ways including, but not limited to lunch at
school, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, etc.
• Assist as needed in pastoral duties such as preaching, teaching, counseling, hospital visits
and participation in worship services.
• Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people and resources
that relate to the Core Areas.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
• Embrace Christian discipline and Baptist Statement of Faith (2000)
• Be consistently seeking God’s truth through a strong prayer life, daily reading and
studying of God’s Word and participating in fellowship with other Christ-followers
• Have a vision and a demonstrated ability to plan develop, coordinate, manage and
implement children/youth ministries
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills and
computer skills
• Proven ability to work effectively with children youth, parents, diverse individuals and
teams of volunteers.
• Understanding of social media connects with children, youth and families
• Ability to pass a background check
• Meet the qualifications of pastor/elder found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
• Children/student ministry: 3 years
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Seminary degree (preferred)

• Full time, permanent position
• Located just south of Raleigh in Fuquay Varina, NC
