Minister/Director of Preschool/Children Full Time

ActiveJasper First Baptist Church is located about 25 miles Northwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley.
Position Reports To: Student & Families Pastor
Job Classification: This position is an exempt (salaried) and full-time position. Full-time is defined by federal law as at least 40 hours per week.
Purpose of Position: To plan and facilitate the spiritual development of children, develop outreach to children and their families, recruit and equip leadership within Jasper First Baptist Church body.
Education: A college degree in children’s education and development field is preferred, although not required.
Experience: Ministerial experience in children’s leadership within a church is preferred, although not required.
Skills & Abilities: Must be a Christian by conversion, Baptist by conviction, and one who is able and passionate about sharing their Christian faith with others. Must affirm a call of God to work with children. Personal and professional conduct must honor Christ and lifestyle must harmonize with Jasper First Baptist Church Articles of Faith, Church Covenant and Ordinance of Conduct. Must have good communication skills and a personality that will enable a cooperative working relationship with Church staff, members, and volunteers. Management skills required include, but are not limited to, organizing, planning, coordinating, training, following up, and developing programs for ministry care.
Specific Duties:
I. Program Development
A. Develop a comprehensive, Bible-centered, teaching and curriculum plan for nursery to 4th grade children.
B. Establish programs that specifically target outreach to the community and programs that facilitate personal Christian growth and discipleship and develop true Biblical beliefs within the Children’s Department.
C. Coordinate with worship ministry to develop creative arts and music ministry for children.
D. Coordinate nursery weekly and childcare for special events.
E. Plan and conduct all activities for preschool/children. Major expectations are VBS, Summer Camp, Fall Family event and Christmas Program.
F. Coordinate with Student/Families Pastor to develop a transitional program from the children’s department to the Student Ministry.
II. Ministry Care
A. Provide ministry care to children, parents and prospects; including hospital visits and crisis situations.
B. Assist Pastoral staff and members in times of need.
C. As a requirement of employment, must adhere to strict confidentiality policy and practice.
III. Administration
A. Develop a measurable strategy for the development and growth of the Preschool/Children’s department.
B. Attend weekly staff meetings.
C. Prepare and submit a quarterly calendar for preschool/children’s ministry in cooperation with the church calendar.
D. Assist the staff in planning for the annual budget and overseeing the expenditure of funds.
IV. General
A. Participates as a member of the church staff.
B. Assist other staff and volunteer leaders as needed; be a team player.
C. Be active and visible in local schools, involved with children’s activities.
D. Must submit to a criminal background investigation and credit check before employment.
Physical Requirements: Good general health and capable of lifting 50 pounds, physically active enough to participate in children’s activities and sports.
Working Conditions: The office assigned is in a temperature-controlled environment. This position will frequently require activities outside the Church building.
