Position Description
The Minister of Discipleship is responsible for cooperating with the KBC Pastors to lead the Church to enjoy and display the worth of Christ in God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-led, Bible-saturated small groups for all ages where the church can grow in Christ-likeness, care for one another, enjoy fellowship, exercise their spiritual gifts, and serve others through evangelism and mercy.
The Minister of Discipleship will:
- Meet the biblical qualifications of a Pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
- Live in obedience to God’s Word and lead others to do the same.
- Lead in developing a growing culture of Biblical discipleship, across generations, within the Church body.
- Lead in developing a growing culture of Biblical care, across generations, within the Church body.
- Join with the Pastors in caring for the church family through the ministry of teaching and preaching.
- Serve alongside the Pastors with joy, love, and unity.
Specifically, in the area of Adult Small Groups he will:
- Provide shepherding care for the leaders of KBC’s different adult small groups, seeking to build up the body of Christ in maturity, unity, and love.
- Develop and spread the vision for small group ministries and their importance within our church family.
- Identify, train and equip small group leaders to fulfill the purposes for small groups through periodic trainings and one-on-one shepherding.
- Provide oversight regarding all curriculum related to adult small group ministries.
- Oversee the budget in the area of small group ministries.
Specifically, in the area of Student Ministry he will:
- Develop a ministry to students and their families, that is in deliberate partnership with parents and in keeping with the vision/values/beliefs of KBC.
- Clearly and proactively communicate the vision of this ministry, and all scheduled activities, with parents whose children are involved in Student Ministry. Facilitate appropriate small group discipleship for the students.
- Facilitate special events for the KBC students, in cooperation with the Pastors.
- Recruit and train volunteers in order to build and develop a team for implementing planned student activities and discipleship.
- Meet with team members on a regular basis to coordinate schedules, budgets, and to spread the vision of this ministry.
- Work with the Pastors to maintain a student safety plan, regularly training team members in this safety plan and their specific responsibilities, and ensuring that all team members comply with the safety plan. This training will ensure the maintenance and recording of regular background checks for all volunteers in accordance with our current insurance standards.
- Oversee the budget in the area of Student Ministry.
- Coordinate the Student Ministry calendar, in cooperation with the KBC office staff and Pastors.
- Seek parental and volunteer feedback in order to continually improve the Student Ministry.
- Attend training opportunities (at the discretion of the Pastors and Personnel Committee).
- Assist in other areas of Church ministry as needed. These additional areas of ministry will be approved by the Pastors.
