Pastor of Discipleship and Outreach Full Time

THE COMMUNITY

LaGrange Baptist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the good of all peoples. Founded in 1802, LaGrange Baptist Church has been a part of LaGrange, Kentucky and Oldham County for over 200 years. Throughout the generations, our aim has always been to serve our community and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are led by a plurality of pastors and elders who are congregationally–affirmed. As cooperating partners of the North Central Baptist Network, the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, our church polity is guided by the inspired Word of God, our church bylaws and covenant, and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. 

THE POSITION

Qualifications:

• Biblical qualifications of a pastor listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent ministry experience or training
• 3-5 years of ministry experience related to the areas of discipleship and outreach
• Clear gift and passion for preaching and teaching
• Ability to lead collaboratively and foster healthy relationships
• Commitment to personal discipleship and outreach
• Demonstrated ability to lead/oversee teams, align ministries, and build healthy ministry culture
• Affirmation of LaGrange Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith
   

Purpose of Position:

To serve LaGrange Baptist through leadership in the areas of discipleship and outreach.

Reports to:

Senior Pastor: Concerning theological and philosophical issues within ministry leadership

Pastor of Worship & Admin: Concerning ministry schedule, organization, and budget issues

Ongoing Responsibilities:

Discipleship

• Develop and maintain an overarching strategy (curriculum, communication, etc.) for LIFE Classes in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
• Identify, train, and care for LIFE Class leaders.
• Work with children, student, and adult ministries to ensure a cohesive curriculum plan.
• Sustain and create opportunities for adult discipleship (men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and other learning environments) within our church.

Outreach

• Equip and encourage the congregation to promote the gospel in our community.
• Coordinate regular outreach opportunities and events.
• Communicate the priority of evangelism within new and existing ministries of LBC.
• Develop a strategy for local/international missions in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
• Work with the Connections Coordinator to involve new believers and guests into LBC life via the Welcome Team, Starting Point gatherings, and Next Steps classes.

Pastoral

• Preach and teach in various ministry environments as needed.
• Provide pastoral counsel and care for LBC and community members.
• Conduct visits, weddings, and funerals in coordination with pastoral team.
• Accomplish other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
