About the Role

Lake Bowen Baptist Church is seeking a Worship Pastor who is a catalytic leader, team builder, and passionate worshipper. This role provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of the worship ministry, ensuring alignment with LBBC’s mission to:

Deliver the Gospel. Disciple the believer. Deploy the Christ Follower.

The ideal candidate is both musically and spiritually mature, with a heart for the local church and a desire to lead people into meaningful, Christ-centered worship.

Lake Bowen Baptist Church held its first service at our current campus (404 Sugar Ridge Rd) on March 3, 2002, after relocating from Rock Hill Baptist Church just a few miles away.

Key Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor will lead and oversee all aspects of the worship ministry, including:

 

Leadership & Vision

Provide clear vision and direction for the worship ministry
Lead worship regularly in weekend services and special events
Ensure worship aligns with the theology, mission, and culture of LBBC
Team Development

Recruit, train, and shepherd worship ministry volunteers
Lead and develop musicians, vocalists, and tech team members
Oversee auditions and onboarding of new team members
Foster a culture of excellence, unity, and spiritual growth
Service Planning & Execution

Plan and coordinate all worship services and special events
Schedule worship teams and ensure smooth weekly execution
Stay current with worship music trends while maintaining theological depth
Select and vet music that supports congregational engagement
Production & Systems

Oversee stage design, setup, and overall environment
Ensure quality control of all audio, visual, and technical elements
Manage equipment, including maintenance, upgrades, and purchases
Supervise sound and production systems for consistency and excellence
Next Generation Worship

Oversee and support worship development in student and children’s ministries
Communication & Coordination

Serve as the primary point of contact for worship ministry volunteers
Collaborate with pastoral staff and ministry leaders for service planning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of biblical worship theology and its practical application in the local church
Proficiency in vocal leadership and at least one instrument (guitar or piano preferred)
Working knowledge of modern worship music, arrangements, and trends
Ability to lead both high-energy and intimate worship environments
Experience with worship planning tools (e.g., Planning Center or similar platforms)
Familiarity with audio, visual, and lighting systems and production workflows
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to develop volunteers at all skill levels
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
High level of organization and attention to detail in service planning and execution
Ability to collaborate across ministries and function well within a staff team
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and retain volunteers
Capacity to handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining excellence and consistency
A heart for pastoral care, discipleship, and spiritual development of team members

Eduction and Experience

A College level degree or higher with and emphasis on music is preferred
3-5 years experience preferable with a church of similar size
