Church Overview:
- Lake Talquin Baptist Church is located West of Tallahassee, Florida in a community of very active members. A staple of the community since 1979, LTBC has increased in attendance and service to the community within the last few years, maintaining an average attendance of over 100 people per Sunday worship service. The LTBC children’s department is flourishing with a successful Sunday morning ministry, as well as an involved RA and GA program on Wednesday nights. We are looking for a Children’s Director capable of welcoming, engaging, and transforming our children and parents through an interactive weekly ministry.
A. Position Overview
- This part – time position requires a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning schedule with a focus area of children from Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade.
- The Director of children’s ministry will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry for children by educating and equipping children with a strong Biblical foundation.
- Through thoughtful planning and preparation, the Children’s Director will provide leadership for weekly children’s Sunday School, Children’s Church, Wednesday night children’s ministries, and other fellowship activities with the church and parents.
- The director will organize games and activities to stimulate growth and engagement during service times.
- The Children’s Director shall:
- Be under the direct supervision of and report directly to the Senior Pastor.
- Work in close cooperation with leadership teams and other members of the church staff.
- Collaborate with the Pastoral Team in making LTBC a friendly and welcoming place for children and their families.
B. Qualifications
- The Children’s Director shall have a passion for Jesus that is contagious.
- This person shall be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of an evangelical church, in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and Statement of Faith of Lake Talquin Baptist Church.
- This person shall become a member of Lake Talquin Baptist Church.
- This person shall have a genuine commitment to the gospel ministry and a sense of divine call to the minister to children.
- This person must have the ability to plan, organize, direct and lead the children’s ministry of a dynamic and growing church while staying current in best practices for working with children.
- This person shall have sufficient skills and experience to relate Bible teachings and applications to real life questions and situations that apply to children and their families in an increasingly challenging culture.
- This person shall demonstrate the ability to meaningfully interact and communicate with children and their parents to build lasting redemptive relationships.
- This person shall demonstrate the ability to recruit, train, empower and lead a team of ministry volunteers.
- High school diploma required. Degree in the appropriate field preferred.
- Experience in children’s ministry required.
- Background Check Required.
C. Responsibilities
- Serve and support the vision, mission and strategic plan of the church.
- Leadership
- Create a dynamic, meaningful and safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among children.
- Strategize, create and implement an action plan to develop a growing and vibrant ministry to children including parent involvement and fellowship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and ministry volunteers.
- Coordinate teachers of Sunday morning Sunday School and Children’s Church, as well as Wednesday night children’s services.
- Education, and training of ministry volunteers.
- Recruit, inspire, train, empower and equip ministry volunteers to support the vision of the children’s ministry, as well as coordinate ministry volunteer scheduling.
- Communication
- Create an effective informational network and calendar to communicate schedules and responsibilities to ministry volunteers.
- Prepare communications/updates regarding children’s ministry for parents and church family.
- Finance
- Work with A&S committee to create and maintain a budget within the established guidelines and in compliance with LTBC Bylaws and Policies.
- Direct the church administration as to the purchasing of supplies needed for the youth.
- Safety
- Oversee the safety and cleanliness of children’s ministry space.
- Assist church office with maintaining necessary child health records.
- Ensure proper completion of background checks for all children’s ministry volunteers prior to their participation.
D. Compensation
- Compensation shall initially be set at $175 per week with the required hours of Wednesday evening service and Sunday morning services.
- Adjustments to compensation through raise or promotion will be evaluated by the Senior Pastor and A&S Committee when appropriate.
