SUMMARY:  The Associate Pastor of Worship & Pastoral Care exists to shepherd people to passionately and purposely worship Jesus with ALL of their lives, primarily through the avenues of music and pastoral care. This full-time, salaried position will focus on developing a robust, Christ-exalting worship/music ministry while also caring for the hurting/sick/straying members of our flock and pointing them to the hope we have in Christ.

Desired Qualities and Characteristics:

• A clear testimony of faith and evidence of a personal walk with Jesus.
• Meets the qualifications of a pastor/elder/spiritual overseer as seen in 1 Tim. 3 & Titus 1 which include godly character, the ability to manage one’s own house well, and the ability to teach God’s Word well.
• Theological Training – A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited Bible College or Seminary is preferred.
• Musical Training – Formal music training is preferred. The ideal candidate should have the ability to lead with an instrument and creatively incorporate and continually develop the various musical giftings and abilities within the body.
• A Shepherd’s Heart – This ideal candidate sees himself first and foremost as a pastor (not a performer) who will seek to shepherd the congregation through worship, teaching, counseling, one-on-one discipleship, etc.
• A Passion for Leading through Music/Worship – The ideal candidate is passionate about leading the congregation in God-exalting, Christ-Centered, and theologically rich hymns and worship music (both ancient and modern)
• A Background/Experience/Gifting in Pastoral Counseling – The ideal candidate will have some training or experience in counseling.
• Someone who is eager to GROW personally, pastorally, and professionally – The ideal candidate will have a heart and attitude that is constantly seeking to grow and will pursue excellence in all he does.

Responsibilities:

1. The Associate Pastor of Worship & Pastoral Care will provide spiritual leadership to all aspects of the worship and music ministry at LBC. This would involve working with the lead pastor to plan and execute a theologically-cohesive and artistically-sound service built around the biblical text to be preached.

2. Oversee all musical needs for special services such as weddings, funerals, Good Friday services, etc. as well as introduce new ideas for services that would help the church grow in prayer & worship.

3. Shepherd all personnel within the worship ministry and provide regular instruction, oversight, feedback, etc. to grow both in spiritual maturity and a biblical understanding of worship.

4.  Supervise the purchase, use, and maintenance of all musical instruments, equipment and supplies required by the church music ministry.

5. Serve as a godly example while exercising pastoral care and helping each member grow as disciples of Jesus who are faithfully making disciples.

6. Help provide biblical counseling as needed for the various needs in the body.

7. Assist the Lead Pastor as needed in all areas of pastoral ministry including preaching/teaching, hospital and crisis visitation, ministry oversight, discipleship, outreach, etc.

8. Provide technical and/or administrative support as needed by the Pastor and/or congregation.
