Executive Pastor of Discipleship and Operations Full Time

Primary Focus

 The Executive Pastor of Discipleship and Operations will work with the Lead Pastor and a core team of leaders to coordinate and lead the discipleship of the Lakeview Family, as well as oversee the day-to-day operations of the church. One main goal of this Executive Pastor position is to equip the saints for the work of ministry and build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12) so that their hearts do not turn away from the living God (Hebrews 3:12). This work entails ensuring that each member of the Lakeview Family is given opportunities to increase their biblical knowledge, grow their understanding of theology, deepen their love for God, engage in meaningful community, and effectively share Christ’s love and message of salvation with non-believers. This role will provide strategic direction to enhance discipleship in all ages of the Lakeview Family, primarily through small groups. The other main goal of this position is to oversee the daily operations of the church, mainly by serving as the staff liaison for various ministry teams. This is a full time, in person, position reporting directly to the Lead Pastor.

Pastoral and Biblical Expectations

Meet all the requirements and responsibilities for Biblical pastorship in 1 Tim. 3: 2-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed daily Bible study, prayer, and meditation. 
Be in prayer constantly for the needs of the church and its members.
Consistently engage in personal evangelism within and outside the church.
Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in Lakeview’s “Bylaws” and “Policies and Procedures Manual.”
Financially support the work of ministries of Lakeview by faithfully giving at least 10% of your total gross income. Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90% for your household.
 

Specific Areas of Responsibility

Direct and execute the vision of our small group ministry.
Develop and maintain a clear organizational structure/chart of small groups.
Support and enhance small group leaders through coaching, training, and equipping them with Biblically-grounded, research-based tools and strategies.
Monitor the effectiveness of the small group leaders by periodically participating in the group, providing additional support and training as needed.
Serve as the main staff point of contact for the church calendar, ensuring it stays up to date with all scheduled events.
Create a balanced budget for the Discipleship and Operations ministries.
Prepare for, attend, and participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly deacon’s meetings.
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor, other staff members, and team leaders in executing the entire ministry plan of Lakeview Baptist Church.
 
Administrative Responsibilities

Expand and enhance the small group ministry by supporting small group leaders in identifying and equipping future leaders within their own groups.
Oversee the church website by serving as the main contact for the webmaster, ensuring the website is kept up to date and contains all the necessary information, especially the calendar of events.
Serve as the main staff point of contact for Operations issues, such as transportation, building and grounds, communication, etc.
Assist in recruiting volunteers for all ministry areas of the church, as needed.
 

Support Responsibilities

Support the Missions, Children, Youth, and Worship teams by sharing ideas, suggesting resources, etc.
This role will not have any direct reports in the organization structure.
 

Other Responsibilities

Provide counseling to church members as needed.
Visit and minister to members of the church in times of need, such as sickness, death of a loved one, etc. when the Lead Pastor is not available.
Preach sermons as necessary, such as upon the absence of the Lead Pastor or in a set rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
 

Required/Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience as church ministry staff or upper-level non-staff leadership position. 
Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education or similar
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry, Theology, or similar
Knowledge, skills, and gifts:
Possess well-developed theological and doctrinal knowledge
Demonstrate outstanding empathy and interpersonal skills necessary for guiding complex, cross-team ministry initiatives
Possess the ability to remain flexible to overcome the ever-changing landscape of ministry and work well with others to accomplish shared goals
Exhibit excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple ministry teams and projects simultaneously
Proven ability to problem solve, collaborate across teams, and maintain confidentiality
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate proficiency with various computer programs necessary for the position (e.g. Google Work Suite, Microsoft Office, ACS Realm, etc.)
Ordination: Must be an Ordained Minister or eligible and willing to be ordained by Lakeview Baptist Church after being hired.
