Lamasco Baptist Church is currently seeking a dedicated and God-called pastor to lead our congregation. We are a fellowship of believers committed to the principles of the Gospel and the teachings of the Bible. We desire to foster a loving and supportive environment where all members are nurtured and encouraged in their faith journey.

Job Description – BI-Vocational Pastor

Our church:

Lamasco Southern Baptist Church is a small rural Southern Baptist church located in Eddyville Kentucky. We have a Sunday attendance ranging from 20 to 60. We are seeking the Lord’s will for the future of our church and its outreach for Christ in our rural community in Western Kentucky.

Character of a Pastor:

• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ (1Timothy 3:6-7)
• Discipline and personal discipleship (1 Timothy 3:2)
• Personal holiness (1 Timothy 3:3)
• Faithfulness and loyalty to wife and family (1 Timothy 3:4)
• Peaceful temperament (1 Timothy 3:3)
• Financial responsibility (1 Timothy3:5)
• Biblical and doctrinal soundness (1 Timothy 3:2, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Qualifications of a Pastor:

• Meet the biblical requirements set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
• Have knowledge and/or education sufficient to show an understanding of the bible
• Understand and support Southern Baptist programs
• Understand and promote programs of the church
• Evangelical oriented and conservative in biblical interpretation
• Show evidence of organizational skills needed to effectively lead
• Possess ministry experience which is valuable to pastoral leadership
• Willingness to be mentored and to mentor others in the ministry

Pastor’s Duties:

• Preach the gospel, lead weekly worship services, lead in ordinances, perform funerals and weddings.
• Visit church members as ministry dictates
• Lead and challenge church members in a way which promotes the Great Commission and strengthens unity in the mission of Christ for the church
• Provide administrative leadership by serving on church committees, training officers and workers, and taking the lead in developing a monthly church calendar
• Become completely versed in the meaning of the church constitution and bylaws and commit to following them. Be accessible and approachable if a need arises.
• Have and share a vision for growth of the church, specifically spiritually, but also in numbers with a focus on creating disciples.
