Job Description:
Principal Function: The Director of NextGen Ministries is responsible for the development, promotion, and leadership of the youth and children’s ministries of Madison Baptist Church. The person in this full-time ministry role will provide leadership and oversight to all student and children’s ministries. As a member of the Church Staff Team, the Director of NextGen Ministries will contribute to congregational life in other areas as needs arise.
The Director of NextGen Ministries at Madison Baptist Church will be committed to reaching, teaching, and equipping students, children, and families to be disciples of Jesus Christ. They will be the champion for the next generation in our church, developing a long-term vision for their discipleship and service that is strategically aligned and biblically faithful. They will lead other leaders to accomplish their ministry goals and help to cultivate a culture of discipleship in our church by investing in parents, students, and children.

Core Responsibilities:
- Work with Children’s Ministry Team, Youth Ministry Team, and Nursery Committee to provide a comprehensive ministry to children, youth, and their parents.
- Coordinate weekly worship, Bible Study, and fellowship options (i.e., Sunday School, Sunday/Wednesday Night Ministries, worship, etc.) to achieve stated ministry goals and objectives;
- The Director of NextGen Ministries will personally lead all youth ministry activities.
- Build relationships and partnerships with Morgan County schools, and relevant parachurch ministries (such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, etc.) for the sake of Great Commission ministry.
- Actively pursue unreached and unchurched students in Morgan County.
- Have a regular presence in the lives of those in their ministry area by attending school functions, sporting events, etc.
- Perform various ministerial duties and leadership responsibilities according to the needs of the congregation and community, particularly those relating to children, youth, and their families. These duties will include leading in worship, worship planning, hospital, and home visits, attending weddings and funerals, etc.
Supervise 1) children’s ministry coordinator, and their leadership of children’s ministry events, 2) paid Nursery Staff in conjunction with the Nursery Committee.
Other Duties:
- Perform intentional outreach to inactive members and prospects (calls, cards, visits) as directed by the Pastor.
- Lead MBC students in local and short-term mission opportunities;
- Contribute to the overall leadership of MBC by participating in staff meetings, appropriate committee functions, and worship services. Weekly worship service attendance is mandatory with exceptions for vacation and previously excused reasons.
- Schedule appropriate office time to accomplish the administrative duties necessitated by the above responsibilities.
- Office hours are expected and will be communicated to the Supervisor;
- Set goals and participate in the Personnel Committee evaluation process annually.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and clear understanding of the Christian faith is essential for this position;
- A clear calling to serve the students, children, and families of Madison Baptist Church;
- At least 3 or more years of experience leading youth preferred;
- Preference will be given to seminary graduates, but experience will be considered in the hiring process;
- Creative and innovative thinking about reaching the next generation of students and children;
- Comfortable with public communication; some experience preaching preferred.
