Mt. Vernon Church in Jasper, Alabama, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Minister of
Music and Discipleship to join our vibrant, multi-staff team. As a church that has been a beacon
in the community since 1900, we are committed to sharing the gospel, growing spiritually, and
extending Christ’s love through worship, discipleship, and outreach.
About Mt. Vernon
Mt. Vernon is a dynamic, welcoming church family with a congregation of around 275 members,
representing a diverse range of ages. We are experiencing exciting growth, both spiritually and
numerically, following the completion of our new worship center. We offer robust programs for
children, youth, and adults and are known for our strong community involvement, including
partnerships with local schools, a food bank, and global mission efforts in places like Honduras.
Position Overview
The Music Minister will lead and develop our music ministry, including our adult, youth, and
children’s choirs, as well as soloists and instrumentalists. This individual will be responsible for
organizing and directing music for Sunday services, special events, and seasonal programs,
fostering a spirit of worship within the congregation.
Key Responsibilities
 Plan and lead worship music for Sunday services and special events
 Develop and mentor music ministry teams, including choirs and instrumentalists
 Collaborate with the pastoral team to ensure worship aligns with the church’s mission
 Engage and inspire the congregation through worship that fosters spiritual growth
 Expand and nurture the involvement of children, youth, and adults in the music ministry
 Support the church’s overall vision of equipping the saints for ministry
Qualifications
 A deep commitment to the Christian faith and a passion for worship through music
 Strong leadership and organizational skills
 Experience in leading and developing choirs, musicians, and vocalists
 Proficiency in a variety of musical styles, with a focus on blended, traditional and
contemporary worship
 A collaborative spirit and ability to work as part of a multi-staff team
 A degree in music or worship studies is preferred but not required.
 The candidate should be ordained.
