Job Description

Title: Maintenance Technician
Category: Part-time Facility Support Staff
Reports to: Operations and Facility Director (OFD)
Start Date: September 23, 2024
Hours: 25hrs a week
Monday–Friday, 8:30 am—1:30 pm (can vary with the calendar), on-call for emergencies.

Overview

  • The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping manage or conduct the regular preventive and routine maintenance tasks for stewarding the facility and its operations under the oversight of the Operations & Facility Director (OFD).

Education

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work professionally and charitably with others.

  • Equipped with basic computer skills (email, internet searches, etc.).

Physical Requirements

  • To perform the job, the employee is expected to meet the following physical requirements:
  • Be on their feet throughout the building most of the day.
  • Flexible to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Hear, speak, and smell.
  • Have sufficient vision clarity.

Areas of Responsibility:

Cleaning

  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Conduct custodial tasks in the event of significant facility issues (for example: flooding, leaks, or other events needing remediation).

Operations

  • Change the marquee and hallway signage weekly.
  • Fill and drain the baptistry as assigned.
  • Open or lock vehicle gates as directed.
  • Set up rooms for all regular and special events. o This includes the addition and removal of chairs and tables, rearranging rooms, moving and assembling sound equipment, etc.
  • Receive deliveries and stock supplies as assigned.

Maintenance

  • Monitor the property and report facility or equipment issues to the OFD. Make minor electrical, plumbing, grounds, and equipment repairs as assigned. These repairs may require the use of specialized equipment including but not limited to scissor lifts, pressure washers, leaf blowers, saws, drills, etc.
  • Paint, clean, repair, or replace interior surfaces such as ceiling tiles and drywall as assigned.
  • Conduct maintenance-related office tasks as assigned. This includes but is not limited to replacing light bulbs, cabinet handles, shelves, securing bulletin boards, replacing water filters, unjamming office equipment, etc.
  • Assemble, remove, and dispose of furniture or equipment as assigned.
    Conduct routine maintenance on tools, and equipment, as needed. This includes but is not limited to sharping, adjusting, tightening, lubricating, and dusting tools and devices such as motors, fans, scissor lifts, saws, air compressors, water pumps, etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and supply closets.
  • Request maintenance supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with the OFD during building emergencies and closures. This includes but is not limited to preparing the building to open after a closure, removing storm debris, salting walkways, equipment checks, and start-up operations.
  • Conduct all tasks per industry-standard safety procedures.
  • Help set up decorations for special events (Christmas, Easter, VBS, Conferences, etc.).

Other

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the OFD.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20 – $30 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
