Church Information:
Founded in 1978, Mountain View Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church located in Hickory, NC, nestled in between Charlotte and Asheville in beautiful western North Carolina. We currently average 527 over two Sunday morning worship services and over 300 in small group Bible study. We also have Wednesday evening discipleship opportunities for kids, students, and adults.
MVBC just successfully completed a smooth pastoral transition in which Dr. John Compton, who retired after 12 years at MVBC and 44 years of pastoral ministry, passed the baton of leadership to Pastor Steven Hill this summer. This transition deeply blessed and grew the church and cemented these two men as friends and co-laborers in ministry. Dr. Compton has moved on to serve as an Interim Pastor at a fellow NC Baptist church, but he and Pastor Steven remain close, and MVBC will always be Dr. Compton’s home church. It is an exciting time for God to call our next Minister of Students as the church is healthy and growing, particularly among young families.
