Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation located in Maiden, North Carolina, committed to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and fostering spiritual growth within our church family and community.

After a season of intentional preparation through a transitional interim pastor process, our church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who will provide strong spiritual leadership, clear biblical teaching, and a vision for the future.

We desire a pastor who will shepherd our congregation with compassion, lead with integrity, and help us continue to grow in faith, unity, and outreach.

Position Summary

The Senior Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church, providing vision, direction, and oversight for all aspects of ministry. He is responsible to the congregation for preaching the gospel, providing pastoral care, and leading the church in fulfilling its mission.

This role includes both spiritual leadership and administrative oversight, equipping the church to grow in discipleship, evangelism, and service.

Key Responsibilities

Preaching & Teaching

Prepare and deliver biblically sound, Spirit-led sermons
Lead the congregation in developing a deeper understanding and application of Scripture
Support and guide the overall teaching ministry of the church

 

Spiritual Leadership & Vision

Lead the church in developing mission, vision, and long-range strategy
Communicate clear goals aligned with the church’s mission
Encourage spiritual growth and discipleship across all age groups

 

Pastoral Care

Provide counseling, guidance, and spiritual support
Conduct regular visitation for the sick, homebound, and those in need
Officiate weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties
Leadership & Administration

Serve as the administrative leader of the church
Supervise staff and lead regular staff meetings
Work with the Finance Committee on annual budgeting
Serve as chairperson of the Church Council
Collaborate with deacons, committees, and ministry leaders

 

Outreach & Ministry Development

Lead and support evangelism and community outreach efforts
Partner with staff to develop ministries for families, youth, and children
Help create and implement church-wide programs and events

 

Qualifications

A committed follower of Jesus Christ who demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23)
Strong belief in the Bible as the inerrant Word of God
Ability to effectively preach, teach, and communicate Scripture
Demonstrated leadership in evangelism and discipleship
Experience in pastoral care and counseling
Ability to lead, delegate, and work collaboratively with church leadership
Exceeds the qualifications of a deacon as defined by church policy

 

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, Pastoral Leadership, or equivalent
Highly Preferred: Master of Divinity from a Southern Baptist seminary
