Compensation:  55-65K a year (total package)

Reports To: Senior Pastor

OVERVIEW

Neptune Beach Baptist Church, a vibrant Southern Baptist church ministering to the communities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jax Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Minister to develop, lead, and grow a dynamic youth ministry program for students in grades 6-12. This role offers a unique opportunity to minister to a diverse group of young people in a coastal community, guiding them in their spiritual growth while also providing a fun, engaging, and supportive environment that connects with the distinct needs of today’s youth. The Youth Minister will oversee all aspects of youth ministry, including discipleship, worship, events, outreach, and service projects..

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth Ministry Vision, Administration, and Leadership:

1. Develop a clear vision and strategy for a Christ-centered student ministry that fosters spiritual growth, community, and service for students in grades 6-12.
2. Oversee the administrative aspects of the youth ministry, including event planning, calendar management, budgeting, and coordination with other ministries.
3. Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, parents, and volunteers through various channels (email, social media, texts, newsletters, etc.)
4. Keep up to date with resources and training for youth ministry, ensuring ongoing professional development and growth.
5. Lead youth services and programs that engage students in worship, Bible study, fellowship, and service, encouraging them to live out their faith in everyday life.
6. Build a team of passionate adult volunteers and youth leaders who assist with various ministry needs, including small group leaders, event coordinators, and mentors.
7. Partner with parents to equip them to disciple their children and engage in family-focused activities.
8. Offer parent education and support to help families navigate the challenges of raising teenagers in a biblical context.

Discipleship & Teaching:

1. Develop and teach Bible studies, sermons, and lessons that align with the core beliefs of NBC and that challenge students to deepen their relationship with God, grow in their understanding of Scripture, and develop Christlike character.
2. Lead weekly youth Bible studies, Life Group classes, and discipleship groups, focusing on Scripture, doctrine, and application to students’ lives.
3. Teach and lead youth during special events, retreats, and camps, facilitating spiritual growth in an immersive environment.
4. Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to students, addressing their unique struggles, questions, and life challenges.

Youth Events & Outreach:

1. Plan and lead annual youth events such as retreats, conferences, lock-ins, mission trips, and youth camps that promote spiritual growth, fellowship, and evangelism.
2. Engage with students on our various local school campuses.  Additionally, look to connect through ministries like FCA and other avenues which are afforded by the local schools.
3. Coordinate seasonal events, including holiday celebrations, service projects, and outreach activities.
4. Work with parents and volunteers to ensure successful execution of events and safe environments for students.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Be a member of Neptune Baptist Church and regularly attend worship services
2. Attend weekly staff meetings and any other agreed upon staff development and planning gatherings

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, theology, Christian education, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or seminary training is preferred.

Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in full-time youth ministry in a church setting, preferably within a Southern Baptist context. Experience leading Bible studies, teaching, and mentoring youth is essential.

Theological Alignment: 
1. Must believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.  
2. Affirm the church’s Statement of Faith, vision, mission, and values
3. Agree to submit to the NBC Policies and Procedures Manual

Skills and Abilities
1. Strong biblical teaching and communication skills.
2. Proven ability to connect with and disciple students in grades 6-12.
3. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and events.
4. A heart for evangelism and missions, both local and global.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and investing in young people.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers.
7. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and the congregation.

Personal Qualities
1. Bible-believing Christian who demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit and maintains and displays a high standard of Christian morals, ethics and a Christ like attitude toward all individuals
2. A genuine love for Christ and a passion for sharing the gospel with young people.
3. A servant-hearted attitude and a willingness to invest in the spiritual growth of students and their families.
4. A model of integrity and biblical living, both personally and professionally.
5. A proactive, creative, and flexible approach to ministry that adapts to the needs of students.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with church leaders, educators, parents, and community stakeholders.
7. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

1. The Youth Minister shall work for an unspecified time and at the pleasure of the Pastor. The Youth Minister can released from employment at any time if the Pastor and Personnel Team feel it is the best course of action for the church and/or for the individual. 

2. If the Youth Minister is released from the job duties, this individual will be entitled to 2 weeks paid compensation for each year served at Neptune which shall be capped at a maximum of 6 months total severance.

3. Any involvement by the Student Youth Minister  in spiritual, ethical, moral, or legal violations of God’s Word may be grounds for immediate dismissal.
