Reports to: Personnel Committee

Hours: Part-time; currently looking for a Pastor who would have the ability to transfer to full-time in the future.

Compensation: Salary and hours negotiable.

Professional Qualifications:

Education- Requiring pastoral candidates at New Heritage Baptist Church to possess some seminary education, up to and including advanced degrees, is a commendable strategy to ensure the church is led by individuals with a robust theological foundation and scholarly aptitude. This emphasis on advanced theological training can significantly enrich the church’s ministry and spiritual guidance.
Experience – The pastoral candidate should have 5 to 10 years of Ministry experience, with a preference for awareness in building congregations. This strategic approach is to ensure effective leadership at New Heritage Baptist Church. This experience range indicates a seasoned individual capable of providing spiritual guidance and fostering church growth.
Principal Function:

The Pastor is responsible to New Heritage Baptist Church for proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and act as the chief administrator of the paid staff.

Personal Qualifications:

The pastoral position should reflect the following attributes:

Good moral character and his personal life reflects this.
Knowing and serving God.
Personal bible study. Sermon preparation.
Spending time with his family.
Be in doctrinal agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
 Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct the worship services. Prepare and deliver sermons. Lead in observance of ordinances.
Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and teaching, and in a caring Ministry for persons in the church and community.
Visit members and prospects.
Conduct counseling sessions. Perform wedding ceremonies. Conduct funerals.
Serve as Chairman of Church Council to lead in planning, organizing, direction, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church.
Work with Deacons, Church Officers, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities. Train and lead the deacons in a program of family ministries.
Act as moderator of church business meetings.
Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders and matters of mutual interest and concern. Keep the church informed of denominational development. Represent the church in civic matters.
Serve as chief administrator of the paid church staff. Supervise the work of assigned staff workers.
