As a senior member of our leadership team, the Director of Worship and Youth Ministries will help our church family in evangelizing, loving, and discipling to people in order that they might grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. While being grounded and rooted in Christ, this role will strive to glorify the Lord, proclaiming the gospel through God-honoring and scripturally sound worship. In addition to leading worship, this individual will be responsible for the development of our youth in their growth as disciples and leaders for the rest of their lives. This individual will seek to cultivate God-honoring partnerships through outreach between the church, homes, and in the community.
Supervision:
- Reporting to: Senior Pastor
- Positions Supervised: Lay Leaders and Interns
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrate a maturing relationship with Him through spiritual disciplines.
- Evidence of a faithful pursuit of growing in personal leadership characteristics, noted in 1 Tim. 3.
- Exhibited excellence as a worship leader (3+ years preferred) and have proven experience in planning, leading and teaching youth ministry programs (3+ years preferred). Must demonstrate a competent ability to shepherd and counsel teens through today’s cultural pressures. In addition, it is essential to have a sound knowledge of the Bible and its doctrinal foundations, preferably expressed by possessing a Masters of Divinity degree or an undergraduate degree from a Bible or Christian liberal arts college.
- Demonstrated passion for Evangelism and Outreach.
- Ability to read and understand music, with knowledge and experience as the primary instrumentalist along with leading choral, vocal, and instrumentals (including but not limited to guitar, piano, or drums).
- Proven track record in developing and empowering lay leaders across various demographics.
Worship Ministry (40% of full-time commitment):
- Glorify the Lord by leading congregational worship through a variety of means, including but not limited to music, prayer, scripture reading, testimonies, words of encouragement, praises, and exhortations.
- Preview, evaluate, and select music that is biblically and theologically sound.
- Prayerfully coordinate song sets, scripture readings, and any special worship elements (baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, testimonies, and announcements) with the Senior Pastor.
- Ability to utilize a variety of music, instruments, and people to create a vibrant worship experience.
- Schedule rehearsals that focus on excellence and communicate with appropriate instrumentalists, vocalists, and A/V volunteers to provide a seamless worship experience.
- Become proficient in utilizing and recommending worship software (ProPresenter, Planning Center, Click Tracks, etc…).
- Recruit, train, develop and disciple a variety of demographic participants to serve on the Worship Team.
- Lead worship, as needed, for weddings, funerals, and other special events.
- Envision and support the implementation of a larger culture of worship that extends outside of the Sunday morning gathering. This includes leading the utilization of Northside’s media channels to familiarize the congregation with new music.
Youth Ministry (40% of full-time commitment):
- Implement a biblical discipleship strategy, including teaching materials and curriculum, for middle and high school students that is aligned with our nursery, preschool, and children’s ministries, and is also consistent with the mission and vision of our church.
- Provide primary teaching and leadership for weekly youth ministry gatherings.
- Provide spiritual guidance and personal counseling to youth as called upon.
- Establish strong relationships with the youth and their families; engaging in the youth’s personal lives (such as school, sports, family) while fostering partnerships that encourage and equip parents for discipleship in the home.
- Inspire and equip youth for outreach to other students in their schools.
- Identify potential leaders amongst the youth; engage, encourage, and provide opportunities to develop their leadership skills.
- Develop and oversee an effective calendar of discipleship, fellowship, and outreach events; seeking opportunities to connect youth to the larger ministries and community of the church.
Administrative Worship and Youth Ministry (20% of full-time commitment):
- Financial management of appropriate line items on the budget balance sheet.
- Ensure Child Protection Policies are followed during all youth ministry activities to provide a safe and clean environment.
- Develop and maintain effective communication strategies for parents, youth, worship team, and the congregational body utilizing the NBCRH website and the various Social Media outlets available (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat, etc…).
- Recruit, train, and provide direction for the Youth Leadership Team.
- Active participation and/or leading in weekly staff meetings and in worship service(s).
