General Job Description

• Provide direct oversight in developing and implementing a childhood education ministry (infants through 5th grade) that includes planning, coordinating and educating for our nursery, preschool, and elementary ministries.

Discipleship

• Implement a biblical discipleship strategy for elementary students that is aligned with our nursery, preschool, and youth ministries, and is also consistent with the mission and vision of our church.

• Teaching and leadership for weekly children’s ministry gatherings (Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings).

• Establish strong relationships with children and their families.

• Work to encourage and equip parents for discipleship in the home.

Events & Activities

• Develop and oversee an effective calendar of discipleship, fellowship, and outreach events (retreats, camps, and summer special events).

• Oversee Vacation Bible School.

• Chaperone and oversee summer camp logistics.

Administration

• Develop and maintain effective communication strategies for parents.

• Development & management of appropriate budgetary line items.

• Ensure Child Protection Policies are followed during all children’s ministry activities.

• Ensure a clean and safe environment for all children’s ministries.

Administration (cont.)

• Recruit, train, and provide direction for the Children’s Leadership Team.

• Active participation in weekly staff meetings.

• Supervise preschool coordinator, nursery coordinator and volunteers/interns.

• Directly reports to the Senior Pastor.

Work Expectations & Compensation

• 15 – 20 hours per week (flexible)

• Education in ministry or childhood related field and/or relevant experience preferred.

• Strong Bible teaching skills are required.

• Demonstrated leadership capacity – 2 years experience as a leader or high capacity volunteer in children’s ministry preferred.
