Bi-Vocational Youth Minister Part Time

ActiveOakridge Baptist Church is looking for its next youth minister. We are located in St Peters, MO, which is a large city in St. Charles County just outside of the city of St. Louis. With a population just over 400,000 in the surrounding area, the opportunities for ministry are endless. Our church heavily invests in our youth ministry, and the next youth minister will find a group of volunteers who will support the work and a pastoral staff who will invest in the youth minister and their ministry.
Our church is seeking a youth minister who will help to guide our youth to follow Jesus and help them to embody our church mission – OBC exists to glorify God by reaching up, reaching in, and reaching out. (Revelation 4:11, Romans 12:1-2, Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 28:18-20).
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Counseling with church leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating a youth discipleship ministry and in enlisting appropriate volunteers.
- Overseeing the educational side of youth ministry through Sunday School, small groups, Wednesday nights, and other education times by providing insight into material and activities.
- Leading the primary teaching times with the youth on Wednesday nights.
- Preparing, planning, and organizing regular youth ministry activities including, but not limited to, monthly events, camps, retreats, outreach, bible studies, etc.
- Advise in the use of materials, equipment, supplies, and space by the youth ministry.
- Coordinating youth participation in the ministry in the church beyond the youth ministry.
- Maintaining regular communication regarding activities, events, and other youth ministry related items with parents, volunteers, and youth.
- Developing a vision for the youth ministry in conjunction with church leadership and the overall vision of the church.
- Proposing a yearly budget that represents the continued development and improvement of the youth ministry as well as reflecting the financial need of the youth ministry. Appropriately administering all budgeted and non-budgeted funds when approved and available.
- Serving as a regular member of the Ministry Coordination Team.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
- Must be a born-again believer with personal testimony of commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
- Have a clear and open calling to serve in Youth Ministry
- Adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
- Maintain, as a priority, a right relationship with God, spouse, and family
- Attend weekly worship services
- Experience in youth ministry is a plus, but not required
- Pass a comprehensive background check
