Open Bible Baptist Church (OBBC) is a multicultural, multigenerational Southern Baptist church located at the southcentral end of Colorado Springs, CO. We seek a bi-vocational Pastor of Missions and Administration to serve on the church pastoral team for a congregation of approximately 100.

We desire a vibrant leader who demonstrates a lifestyle of integrity, commitment, and dedication to Jesus Christ and our church family. The ideal candidate will be an ordained pastor with at least three years of experience on staff at a church. He should be spiritually growing with a consistent walk with Christ, possess strong people skills, and the ability to work as part of a cohesive ministry team. He should also possess the ability to both teach and preach. This candidate must also be an internally motivated self-starter, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and teams well.

Primary responsibilities include coordination and leadership of missions opportunities domestically and abroad. This pastor will directly supervise the church office manager and the church’s youth ministry leader. Also, the pastor will oversee OBBC’s facilities and will oversee Open Bible’s small group ministry and its leaders.

Preaching and Teaching opportunities will occur on selected Sundays and Wednesdays.  Additionally, the Pastor of Missions & Administration will assist the church in ensuring that people of all ages are discipled to maturity in their faith in Jesus Christ.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Pastor of Missions & Administration is responsible for developing a vibrant and active ministry to the members of Open Bible Baptist Church (OBBC) by leading with skill and integrity, mobilizing people for ministry, and communicating Biblical truth in a meaningful and relevant way. The Pastor of Missions & Administration is accountable to the Lead Preaching/Teaching Pastor.

Pay: $1,050/month (with up to 12-15 hours/week)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

To experience God’s presence through daily prayer and study of God’s Word.
To coordinate and lead missions opportunities domestically and abroad, including 1 domestic trip/year, 1 international trip/year, and support our partnership with the Digital Bibles ministry.
To directly supervise the church office manager.
To manage/oversee the OBBC facilities.
To provide supervision, direction, and guidance to youth/student ministry and its leader.
To provide direction and guidance to OBBC’s small group (Journey Group) ministry, including training and development of group leaders.
To be prepared to lead the Sunday services and to bring the sermon message as assigned (approximately 6-8 times/year).
To regularly teach Sunday School, Wednesday night Bible study, and discipleship courses as assigned.
Availability must include Wednesdays from 6 to 8 PM and Sundays from 9 AM to 1 PM.
To serve and help develop the Leadership Team.
To keep 6 hours of office hours/week.
Must be completed between 9 AM & 3 PM on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
To perform pastor on-call duties, including visitations when needed for visitors, the sick & the shut-in → for 1 week on an every 3 week rotation.
Teach and practice personal evangelism.
Attend all weekly services, staff, leadership, business meetings, & retreats.  
To support the Lead Teaching/Preaching Pastor as he:
Leads and feeds the OBBC church family.
Develops the purpose, vision, and goals of the church.
Shepherds the OBBC family.
Extends the impact of OBBC to the local, regional, and international community.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritual Qualifications

Strong, clear Christian testimony.
Vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Scripture.
Must meet the qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Includes leadership at home of his family.
Includes participation in daily life of the church.
Teachable spirit.
Cheerful giver of time and finances to Kingdom work.
Strong prayer life.
Servant leader’s heart.
Love for God’s people.
Love for the lost.
 

Professional Qualifications

Spiritually gifted and passionate communicator of God’s Word.
Minimum of 3 years experience on the pastoral staff of a med-large church.
Ordained minister.
Must fully agree with and support OBBC’’s Statement of Faith and Doctrinal Statement.
Must be familiar with one or more small group models.
Must be open to new concepts of ministry.
Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment with the OBBC leaders and other staff pastors with a ““council of peers”” structure that stresses mutual accountability.

Education Qualifications

College degree.
Seminary degree (desired but not required).
