ActivePBC’s youth ministry is searching for a capable leader to lead teens into a relationship with Jesus and equip them to serve others. Our youth ministry includes middle school, 6th – 8th grade, and high school, 9th – 12th grade.
Qualifications:
a. Character: A candidate shall be a someone who exhibits Christlike behavior to those around them. This should evident through the testimony of those around them. Philippians 2:5-7
b. Doctrine: A candidate should hold to the basic Biblical doctrines and beliefs as Palmetto Baptist Church. This can be found on our website.
c. Education: An undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution is required; a seminary-level degree (M.Div. or similar) is preferred.
d. Experience: This position requires some experience serving teens and/or kids in various opportunities. All experience will be considered including small group leader, ministry leader, and camp counselor. Youth minister experience is preferred.
Job Description:
Principal Function:
Oversee and lead all aspects of PBC’s youth ministry.
Accountability:
a. Be accountable to the Senior Pastor.
b. Receive an annual evaluation review by the Personnel Committee.
c. Be a member of and report quarterly to Church Council
d. Provide an annual report to the congregation.
e. Maintain office hours Monday through Thursday during dedicated church
office hours unless participating in ministry elsewhere.
Ministry Responsibilities
Leadership
i. Develop and carry out a long-range discipleship plan for all youth
ii. Plan, carry out, and evaluate weekly ministry programming including Sunday
Mornings and Wednesday nights.
iii. Recruit, train and supervise adult and student volunteers to serve alongside
you in ministry.
iv. Strictly adhere to Child Protection system guidelines, keeping all background
checks current.
v. Cooperative with all other ministries in meeting family needs.
vi. Provide opportunities for youth and young adults to serve in the church,
community, and world.
viii. Oversee the youth budget and follow all financial procedures. Evaluate and
prepare your annual ministry budget. Plan and execute fundraisers as
necessary.
ix. Have a plan to communicate with parents, volunteers, and the church.
x. Create and execute a plan to reach non-churched students in our community
b. Teaching
i. Oversee the teaching team for Sunday Morning Bible Study.
ii. Lead Biblically sound lessons/sermons on Wednesday evenings and ensure worship and effective engagement are being offered.
iii. Provide any necessary resources for training of volunteers.
iv. Partner with parents and families to encourage them how to better communicate with and disciple their own children.
c. Pastoral Care
i. Personally visit any youth as needed
ii. Work with volunteers in counseling individual youth, especially for emergencies.
d. Additional responsibilities
Abide by all personnel policies of Palmetto Baptist Church.
• Work in partnership with other staff members in a team approach.
• Assist Pastor and Church Staff in maintaining harmony within the Church fellowship
• Maintain a lifestyle compatible with traditional Baptist tenets, customs, and practices.
• Serve as member of Church Council.
• Attend Church staff meetings.
• Support other ministries of the church.
• Assist Pastor in carrying out Pastoral duties (Visitation, personal counseling, weddings, funerals, baptisms, Lord’s Supper, etc.) as requested by the Pastor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
