The Worship Minister oversees Parkway’s Worship and Audio/Video Ministries, leading the congregation into authentic, God-honoring worship. Functioning as a minister first and musician second, this role combines musical direction, media creation, and volunteer development with a deep shepherd’s heart for the congregation and the next generation. As part of the Leadership Team, the Worship Minister collaborates with ministry leads to carry out the overall vision and mission of the church.

For a Worship Minister, this means:
Worship as Discipleship:Using music, Scripture, and media not just to lead a Sunday service, but to anchor people in truth so they can share it throughout the week.
Equipping Disciples:Discipling and mentoring volunteer musicians, tech team members, and student praise teams so they grow spiritually and pass that faith on to others.
Relational Mission:Leveraging a 350-person church environment to form deep, personal connections that encourage believers to actively impact their neighborhoods, workplaces, and families for Christ.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Worship Leadership & Service Planning: Partner with the Lead Pastor to plan, coordinate, and lead creative, biblically sound worship services that engage the congregation and encourage spiritual growth.
Pastoral Care & Shepherding: Shepherd volunteers across all worship and tech teams, discipling them spiritually as well as growing their technical/musical skills. Cultivate authentic relationships with the broader church family.
Student Worship Development: Work directly with the Student & Family Pastor to launch, equip, and mentor a Student Praise Team.
Audio, Visual & Video Production: Oversee live sound mixing, stage lighting, and visual presentation systems. Equip team members in shooting, editing, and producing creative video content (e.g., sermon intros, ministry highlights, testimony videos, social media clips) to communicate the church’s vision.
Volunteer Recruitment & Team Building: Recruit, train, schedule, and empower volunteer vocalists, instrumentalists, sound engineers, and media operators.
Stewardship & Gear Maintenance: Oversee the annual worship and tech budget. Maintain, troubleshoot, and steward all musical instruments, sound systems, cameras, and media equipment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Spiritual & Personal Qualifications
Shepherd’s Heart: Motivated by a love for God’s people; prioritizes building up team members over putting on a performance.
Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrates a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ through daily spiritual disciplines (Scripture study, prayer, fasting) and lives a life “above reproach”.
Relational & Teachable: Values teamwork, open communication, and high emotional health. Self-motivated, resourceful, and well-ordered in personal life.
Alignment: Fully supports Parkway’s core beliefs, values, and leadership strategy.
Professional & Technical Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred; proven track record of leading congregational worship and developing volunteer teams.
Musical Proficiency: Strong vocalist and instrumentalist (guitar or keys preferred); proficient in reading music, understanding arrangements, and charting for a band.
Video & Media Creation: Practical experience with non-linear video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut, etc.) and modern presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter).
Audio Engineering: Sound knowledge of live audio mixing, digital consoles, monitor mixes, and stage setup.
TIME COMMITMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hours: Full-time (40+ hours per week, including weekends, Sunday services, and evening rehearsals/meetings). Staff ministers lead by example, serving side-by-side with volunteers who generously give their time outside of work weeks.
Environment: Works in both an office and sanctuary setting within a close-knit, collaborative staff team.
