ActivePine Valley Baptist Church is a growing, healthy, and evangelistic church looking for an exciting Children’s and Family Minister to lead our children and their families. This position will begin as a part time position with great opportunities to flourish and become a full time position. Our church is experiencing a campus remodeling project which is inclusive of gymnasium and children’s classroom areas. We anticipate great opportunities to follow the investments we’ve made in our children, students, and preschool areas. Job Description:
The Children’s Director will be responsible for all operations and facets for children’s programing, ministerial outreach and development for children in kindergarten through 5th grade and their families. The Children’s Director will oversee a team of leaders and volunteers responsible for the following core children’s ministry programs that include, but are not limited to:
– Kids Zone (Children’s Worship Service)
– MDWK Children’s activities (Wednesday night children’s programs)
– Children’s Sunday School
– Vacation Bible School
– Children’s Choir (in partnership with the Worship Director)
– Summer Programming
– Seasonal programs (Fall Festival, Easter Egg Hunt)
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Recruit, train and lead volunteers for children’s ministry classes and events, worship services and children’s programs.
– Provide a warm, friendly and learning environment for children and their families for all core children’s ministry programing.
– Use appropriate child development knowledge to best meet the needs of the children in curriculum selection, child discipline, classroom grouping, etc.
– Communicate the needs of the children’s program to other staff and church leaders as appropriate. Organize and set-up classrooms with necessary supplies.
– Coordinate sanitation and safety (i.e. background checks) protocols for all children’s ministry programs.
– Work with Building and Grounds for repairs or needs of any classroom or facilities that need attention where children’s ministry programs are held.
– Visit Sunday School classes for the purpose of evaluation and teacher support in order to address any issues that arise. Teach classes as needed.
– Partner with the Senior Pastor, coordinate and provide leadership in developing and implementing a family outreach ministry focused on children’s activities.
– Assist Senior Pastor to visit church families involved in children’s ministry as requested; consult with parents regarding an issue with their child and refer the child to a certified counselor as appropriate.
– Lead monthly children’s ministry team leader meetings; attend weekly staff meetings and attend regional training as relevant to children’s ministry.
– Monthly children’s ministry team leader meeting shall include all team leaders associated with core children’s ministry programs. Quarterly meetings will be held with all children’s volunteers.
– Participate in the annual budget estimating process.
– Coordinate childcare for church functions as requested by staff using volunteers.
– Perform other duties as assigned at the request of the pastor and/or Personnel Team.

Personal Qualifications:
– Personal, active and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
– Energetic, warm and able to share the love of Jesus to children and their families.
– Comfortable in sharing the plan of salvation and is always ready to share with others.
– Comfortable with visiting church families involved in the children’s ministry.
– Physically capable of sustained activity.
Professional Qualifications:
– Knowledge and experience in biblical interpretation and child and faith development.
– Knowledge of religious educational theory and practice.
– Maintain confidentiality and accountability with church resources.
– Participate in a minimum of one training event per year.
– Understand and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message Statement of Faith (2000 Edition) and mission of Pine Valley Baptist Church.
Work Schedule:
– Part-time (Flex time allowed, consistent with assigned duties). This position will work up to 28 hours per week, but may increase as ministry grows.
