1 day per week plus some additional meetings

Providence Church is searching for a Deacon of Worship to serve the congregation as they corporately delight in God and display his glory in gathered worship through prayer, song, and scripture. This is a part time staff role in a church plant that will launch in the summer of 2025. We have a thriving core team preparing to plant in the unique small town of Speedway, Indiana on the west side of Indianapolis, home to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Speedway presents the neighborliness and community of a small town with all the conveniences and opportunities of the big city. Within the west side of Indianapolis, there is a desperate need for more healthy, disciple-making, gospel-preaching churches. Providence Church is being planted to meet that need – serving in this role is a unique opportunity to get in on the work of God in a place where it is greatly needed.

The mission of Providence Church is to make disciples who delight in God, display his glory, and declare his gospel. Providence is committed to the good sovereignty of God in all things, expositional preaching, corporate worship, a plurality of elders, and baptistic theology. Providence is a Send Network church plant being sent by Harvest Church in North Indy. Providence is also part of the Pillar Network and has a number of other significant partner churches.

The Deacon of Worship will serve the church by facilitating our musical worship, leading and building the worship team, and participating as a faithful member of Providence Church. The role of the Deacon of Worship will be a part time staff role that reports to the Lead Pastor, participating in our weekly staff meetings and working closely with the Lead Pastor and other leadership to facilitate vibrant, joyful worship that reflects our 5 Priorities.

• Model vibrant, joyful, deep, truthful and spiritual worship.
• Shepherd with a posture of humble dependence on God.
• Choose songs that adore God for who he is and teach Providence Church to relate to him rightly.

Believe his Word

• Choose songs that express the full picture of the Biblical story, how God has redeemed us, and who he is.
• Incorporate Scripture as you shepherd through the services in a helpful and contextually appropriate way.
• Encourage the worship team in their growth in the Word.

Belong to his People

• Be aligned with Providence’s philosophy of joyful, radiant congregational worship.
• Schedule worship team members and assist the lead pastor in service planning.
• Intentionally be a part of the life of the church (no stage/pew divide).
• Develop and train worship and production volunteers.

Become like his Son

• Active in discipleship, particularly of those involved in worship leadership.
• Model a life that looks like Jesus.

Be on his Mission

• Participate in equipping the members of Providence Church to go on mission in the community and welcome the community to the gathering.

REQUIREMENTS –

Must be a member of Providence Church in good standing.
Meets the qualifications of a deacon at Providence Church.
Skilled musician and vocalist with the ability to shepherd the congregation musically.
Capable communicator with an ability to cast vision and rally community to mission.
Fully aligned with the mission and priorities of Providence Church.

Consistently complete duties and responsibilities in a timely way.

Develop and remain within budgets associated with this position
