Full-Time Senior Pastor — Pump Springs Baptist Church has Sunday morning Worship Service and Sunday School. At times we have had 2 Sunday morning services and traditionally have held Sunday night services and programs for children and youth on Wednesday nights with a prayer meeting held also. Before COVID our attendance for Sunday morning services were averaging around 275. During 2020, our church did not always meet in person and switched some focus to online. Now that we are routinely and intentionally meeting in person for worship our average attendance in 2021 has been around 187.

Pump Springs Baptist Church is located in Harrogate Tennessee, in beautiful Claiborne County. The population of Harrogate according to the 2010 US Census is 4,389. Claiborne County is a growing community nestled near the Cumberland Mountain and Great Smoky Mountains. It is rich in heritage and fun outdoor activities in historic Cumberland Gap, on the beautiful waters of Norris Lake and the Powell and Clinch Rivers.

The area has great educational opportunities led by Lincoln Memorial University and Walter State Community College with Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in adjoining Bell County Kentucky.

The Senior Pastor has the primary responsibility for preaching and teaching the Word of God and the sustaining of biblical doctrines of Pump Spring Baptist Church.

Qualifications

• Must be born again with a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and called by God to preach

• Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle, complying with the qualification for ministers as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7

• Affirm and teach with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message

• Have a pastor’s heart

• History of faithful ministry experience

• Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships

Responsibilities

Worship

• Preach the Word of God regularly

• To be the primary preacher on Sunday mornings (and other scheduled services) and to ensure that the pulpit is filled by faithful preachers when he is absent

• Administer the ceremonies and business meetings of the church

Pastoral Care

• Shepherding the congregation in cooperation with staff to include but not be limited to visiting, counseling and prayer for members and prospective members

• Conduct pastoral visits to hospitalized members, widows, and shut-ins and performs requested pastoral services (e.g., weddings, funerals) as appropriate

Leadership

• Join with the deacons in exercising spiritual oversight

• Oversee a healthy deacon ministry. He will communicate church needs to deacons and delegate tasks to the deacon body

• Help develop and nurture church membership for ministry opportunities

• Encourage and lead the church to declare the gospel in the community and among the nations

Administration

• Manage the day to day operation of the church and staff

• Conduct meetings with the staff of the church on a regular basis

Training

• Ensure the discipleship and training of ministry staff members and current and future leaders of the church
