The Red Hills Southern Baptist Church, Inc. (RHSBC) Associate Pastor – Youth (Youth Pastor) serves as the spiritual leader of the students. The Youth Pastor will lead and organize an effective student ministry, implementing worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, evangelism, and fellowship. He must possess a passion to lead the youth of our church into that same passion. The overall objective of the Youth Pastor is to make Christ-like disciples of our students and train and motivate them to make disciples. The Youth Pastor will perform his duties in compliance with the bylaws of RHSBC.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide leadership to our overall youth ministry, including the accomplishment of all Red Hills Southern Baptist Church (RHSBC) goals and objectives.
  • Model and promote the value of a Christ-centered lifestyle with the youth of our church.
  • Establish strong relationships with the youth of our church, maximizing ministry impact on their lives.
  • Build a growing Student Ministries team to effectively reach other students in our community.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the public and private schools in our community and make connections with other youth, drawing them into the fellowship of our church and into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Facilitate the evangelism training and mobilizing of our students to develop relationships with the un-churched, to actively witness to persons within their sphere of influence, and to make disciples of those responding to their witness.
  • Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual and group basis.
  • Maintain contact with youth and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities. Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
  • Seek to integrate youth to create a church culture that is intergenerational.
  • Monitor and maintain youth ministry expenses within the approved RHSBC annual budget.
  • Manage student fees and fundraising for events and ministry/mission trips in compliance with RHSBC financial policies and procedures.
  • Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles in concert with other pastoral staff.
  • Provide adequate planning and preparation for all services, meetings, and activities such that each event will be effective in accomplishing its stated purpose.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Sr. Pastor.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Born-again Christian of proven character, whose lifestyle, habits and practices exhibit obedience to the commands of Christ and scripture. A deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a passion for evangelism. Must have a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible, Christian theology, and Southern Baptist tradition and missions. Model a Christ-like lifestyle with a passion to reach the lost.
  • Complete adherence to the Baptist Faith and Message, RHSBC bylaws and constitution.
  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or higher in ministry. Credentials in Southern Baptist institutions and churches preferred.
  • Ordination, or willing to be ordained, by a Southern Baptist Church.
  • Prefer a minimum of three years of pastoral experience in a similar position with a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, student ministry growth, and community outreach.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with a passion for empowering others and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment. A self-starter and team player.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have the ability to research the community, utilizing demographics, technology, and social media to reach the un-churched youth of our community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence.
  • Discretion regarding privacy with absolute ability to maintain confidentiality.
  •  Adherence to, and compliance with, church policies and procedures.
  •  Cordial and professional conduct, dress, and decorum. Dress should be modest and either business or business casual consistent with the conservative values of the church.

Office Hours

Administrative duties shall be performed at the RHSBC offices, and all records and data shall be created and maintained on on-site RHSBC office computer systems (or if hard copies are appropriate, in the on-site physical files). The Youth Pastor will work full-time with flexible hours to accommodate the needs and availability of the youth. Part of the time, in collaboration with the Sr. Pastor, shall be spent at the church building available to meet with students, parents, and pastoral staff.

Evaluation and Compensation

The RHSBC Youth Pastor reports directly to the Sr. Pastor and will receive an annual performance evaluation from the Sr. Pastor. Initial compensation will be commensurate with education, skills and experience. Compensation is reviewed annually.
