Reynoldsburg Baptist Church (RBC) is accepting resumes and recommendations for an Associate Pastor. Generally, the Associate Pastor will assist the Lead Pastor in feeding (John 21:15-17; Acts 6:4; 20:20), leading (1 Tim 3:1-2; 1 Pet 5:2-3), equipping (Eph 4:12), caring for (Acts 6:4; 20:21, 28), protecting (Acts 20:28-31; 1 Tim 1:3-7), and calling others into (John 10:16; 2 Tim 4:5) the flock God has entrusted to the care of RBC’s pastors (Acts 20:28). Specifically, the Associate Pastor will provide primary pastoral leadership to RBC’s music ministries and other specific ministry areas that will best serve the church and align with the Associate Pastor’s gifts, skills, and experience. Other such ministry areas could include, for example, one or more of the following: youth/student ministry, family ministry, senior adult ministry, and/or adult education and discipleship. The scope of the Associate Pastor’s primary responsibilities beyond the music ministry will be established in cooperation with the Lead Pastor to foster consecrated devotion to our Triune God, deepened biblical convictions, strengthened Christian community, continual Christ-like change, and advancement of our Christ-given commission.

About RBC

We are a Southern Baptist Church in Reynoldsburg, OH affiliated with both the Metro Columbus Baptist Association (MCBA) and the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio (SCBO). Presently, RBC’s congregational life centers primarily around our Sunday morning gatherings (Sunday School and corporate worship) and our Wednesday evening activities (Bible study and groups for preschoolers, elementary children, and youth). The music ministry of RBC serves primarily to support corporate worship. The music portion of congregational worship currently consists of a combination of traditional and contemporary hymns led by a praise team and accompanied instrumentally by piano and cello. Our ministries to children and students are distributed between three primary age divisions: preschool (birth – Kindergarten), children (1st – 6th grades), and youth (7th – 12th grades).

RBC has a rich tradition of faithful teaching and local, national, and international missions support and engagement. As we look to the future of our congregational life, we desire to build on this heritage as we pursue our biblically-guided mission and remain committed to our biblically-based core values.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the Associate Pastor’s education and experience. In keeping with RBC’s employee benefits policy and practice, benefits will include vacation time, retirement contributions, self-employment reimbursement, medical and dental insurance contributions, and eligibility to participate in RBC’s scholarship program for continued studies.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. Satisfies the biblical qualifications for a pastor (e.g., 1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
  2. Meets the requirements of membership at RBC, including agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  3. Values biblical convictions, Christian community, Christ-like change, and the Great Commission.
  4. Demonstrates proficiency in congregational music leadership, as well as the ability to lead smaller groups of vocalists and/or instrumentalists (e.g., praise team, choir, instrumentalists, etc.). Preferably the successful candidate will also have experience in musical arrangement.
  5. Possesses expertise in playing one or more musical instruments (preferably, at least, piano).
  6. Has provided leadership to at least one church ministry or program other than music ministry.
  7. Completed a bachelor’s degree (preferably working on or completed a ministry-oriented master’s-level degree).
  8. Is proficient with word processing and basic presentation and image-editing software.
  9. Has familiarity with analog and digital sound and lighting equipment.
  10. Possesses the ability to communicate with and relate well to children, youth, and adults of all ages.
