Risen Life Church (RLC) is an exciting church on the East side of the Salt Lake City valley at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. Salt Lake City is one of the most desirable cities in the nation for its healthy economy, booming tech industry, young and growing population, university culture, and easy access to an abundance of outdoor recreation. In Salt Lake City there is a fascinating meeting between devout religious activity and secularism creating an exciting mission field for Christians. Every day as a Christian in Salt Lake City there are an abundance of opportunities to share the Gospel. RLC was planted in the 1950’s to reach this city and has steadily grown ever since. RLC has been integral in planting many churches in the valley and continues to have a heart to raise up disciples and plant churches.
 
We are currently seeking a Children’s Minister to join our dynamic staff team to help us reach children and their families in our church and in our city. We are looking for a visionary leader that can take our Children’s Ministry to the next level and find creative ways to minister to children and families. We have many young families at RLC and feel God calling us to minister to these families in new and innovative ways in these important days. Discipleship is also very important to us. We want to make disciples who make more disciples, and we encourage our staff to do just that in the church and in their ministry teams. At RLC there is a great opportunity to raise up new leaders to step into the work of Children’s Ministry under the leadership of the Children’s Minister. We believe a healthy Children’s Ministry is integral to the health of our church and are excited to see who God will bring next to serve with us.

Job Description
The Children’s Minister is responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of church ministry necessary to enhance the spiritual growth and development of children ages birth through 5th grade in conjunction with RLC’s vision of “Real Life Transformation” and “Real Life Multiplication.” This includes developing new avenues of family ministry as well as working with our Junior High, High School, and College Ministries to think holistically about the discipleship of children into Christian adults. The Children’s Minister will also be in charge of directing the work of our Children’s Ministry Associate that helps to execute the vision of Children’s Minister at RLC.
 
Required Job Functions
·      Develop and clearly communicate vision and mission for Children’s Ministry that is consistent with the overall church vision and mission. Needs to be written in terms children can grasp.
·      Recruit, train, develop, schedule, and raise up volunteer leaders for regular Children’s Ministry activities (Sunday morning discipleship classes, preschool care during weekly worship service,  paid childcare requests for RLC events, etc.) as well as periodic special events (VBS, children’s camp, and quarterly events).
·      Select and/or develop curriculum for regular Children’s Ministry activities and periodic events.
·      Exhibit a proficiency in computer skills, an aptitude for learning new software as required, and an ability to develop and maintain an online presence for Children’s Ministry.
·      Implement registration and check in procedures, classroom management, security, and emergency policies and practices for all Children’s Ministry events.
·      Manage the creative use and proactive upkeep of dedicated Children’s Ministry space.
·      Actively participate with the Pastoral Staff by attending weekly staff meetings and periodic leadership retreats, and assist with planning Baby Dedications, Baptisms, and other child/family related recognitions. Advocate for Children’s and Family Ministry in all we do.
·      Develop and implement a Family Ministry plan in collaboration with other Pastoral staff.
·      Schedule regular meetings with children and families outside of programmed events.
·      Work alongside the Executive Pastor to develop an annual budget and exhibit good stewardship in the day to day management of expenses.
·      Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
·      Preferred 5 years’ experience in either a lay-led or staff paid Children’s Ministry position, or several years of other volunteer church ministry experience.
·      Preferred degree in related area or willingness to pursue appropriate training.
·      Solid leadership skills with measurable results, including organizational and administrative giftings, self-starter, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·      Godly character, a healthy personal and family commitment to the Gospel, missional mind-set, innovator, ability to motivate and encourage people while remaining personable and engaging.
·      The ideal candidate will have a heart for serving children and families and be able to express a calling to ministering to this demographic.
