Worship and Performing Arts Minister

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Worship and Performing Arts minister takes direction from the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee and leads the congregation genuine worship in church services through music video and visual arts. The worship minister provides leadership and direction to the members of the worship team and collaborates with the church leadership team to organize and plan church services. This position also requires an understanding of the technical aspects of audio and video production.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:

Support the church vision and assist in implementing this vision through the integration of creative worship music in our church services.  This includes the recording and distribution of church related activities through social media.

·         A desire to share personal faith with those who do not know Jesus Christ and lead others to do the same.

·         Meet the biblical qualifications of a church leader as defined in I Timothy 3 and Titus.

·         Demonstrate a “shepherd’s heart” by word, action, and attitude.

·         Follow the vision of the church and leadership of the Senior Pastor and be an integral part of Sabino Road Baptist Church (SRBC).

CANDIDATE GENERAL ABILITIES

·                   Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style that exalts our Lord and Savior and encourages congressional participation.

·                   Plan and coordinate quality services in partnership with the Senior Pastor.

·         Work with the worship team to cultivate musical skills.

·         Technical competency in audio production and video recording and distribution

·         Active discipleship of all members, believers and visitors.

CANDIDATE MUSICAL SKILLS

1.       Knowledgeable of a broad range of musical styles and Christian worship.

2.       Ability to sing and lead the congregation with an instrument, preferably keyboard or guitar.

3.     Capable of choral direction for more formal musical performances such as cantatas and special church celebrations

4.     General understanding of the fundamentals of music theory.

5.     Comfortable with both written music and chord charts

CANDIDATE MUSICAL/MULTIMEDIA RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Directs the musical, dramatic and multimedia presentations of all corporate worship in direct cooperation with the senior pastor including Sunday worship experiences, worship nights and special services.

2.     Actively encourages, communicates with and enlists church members to be involved in music ministry.

3.     Enlists and schedules accompanists and vocalists for weekly worship services and other

Lead weekly rehearsals that serve a dual purpose:
Provides for all necessary music arrangements, orchestral scores and sheet music for vocalists and instrumentalists as appropriate.
Plans and leads in major worship events including cantatas, musicals and special celebrations.
Recruit, train, develop and evaluate Media and Audio/Visual Team.
Provide input and suggestions to all ministries in areas of music and worship (including student and children ministries).
Work with our youth in developing both worship and musical skills

OTHER DETAILS:

This is a part time position with an expectation of approximately 20 hours a week in planning, musical practice, performance and video posting.
