Job Description: Music Minister

Position Title: Music Minister / Worship Leader

Purpose:

The Music Minister is responsible for leading and developing the music ministry through traditional worship services that honor Christ and encourage congregational worship.

This position will seek to build and lead a choir ministry while promoting spiritual growth and unity within the church body.

Key purpose is to worship Jesus in Spirit and Truth through worship music.

Primary Responsibilities:

Plan and lead traditional worship services in cooperation with the pastor.
Select biblically sound and spiritually uplifting music appropriate for traditional worship.
Lead congregational singing during worship services and special events.
Develop, organize, and direct an adult choir with the goal of growing participation and excellence.
Schedule and conduct regular choir rehearsals in accordance with Pastor.
Coordinate special music, cantatas, holiday programs, and revival services as needed in accordance with Pastor.
Recruit, encourage, and mentor musicians, singers, and volunteers.
Work closely with sound/media volunteers when needed for worship services.
Maintain a Christlike attitude and serve as a positive example in conduct and leadership.
Support the overall ministry and mission of the church.
Work alongside other musical talent in the church.
Qualifications:

A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing Christian walk.
Agreement with the church’s doctrine and mission.
Ability to lead traditional worship music effectively.
Ability to direct and develop a choir ministry.
Musical ability in singing and/or instrumental leadership preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Faithful attendance and participation in church life.
Preferred Qualities:

Heart for ministry and shepherding people through music.
Experience leading traditional hymns and choir arrangements.
Desire to help build and strengthen the music ministry long-term.
Ability to work well with the pastor, staff, and congregation, especially other musical talent inside the church.
Schedule & Commitment:

Lead music during regular worship services. (Worship begins at 10 a.m. every Sunday.)
Attend weekly rehearsals and ministry meetings as needed.
Participate in special church events and seasonal programs.
Accountability:

The Music Minister will serve under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and/or church leadership team.
