Music Leader Part Time

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS AND GOALS: 

• Select and arrange music that aligns with the weekly sermon theme. 
• Lead the choir in rehearsals and services. 
• Mentor volunteer musicians and vocalists. 
• Coordinate with the pastor to ensure a cohesive worship flow. 
• Manage sound and multimedia needs for music portions of the service. 
• Ability to engage and encourage congregational participation. 

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

The person in this position must be a born-again Christian of like faith and order who is motivated and energetic in service to the Lord. Individuals must possess the personality, temperament, and interpersonal skills needed to relate and serve effectively within a multi-generational setting and pass a background check. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Plan and conduct weekly choir rehearsals. 
• Select hymns and special music for weekly services as well as special musical programs or cantatas for holiday and/or special days. 
• Collaborate with organist/pianist for accompaniment. 
• Recruit and train choir members including reaching out to the youth in the church. 
• Develop a children’s choir. 
• Possess strong choral conducting skills. 
• Knowledge of traditional hymns and sacred music. 
• Develop a balanced music program that appeals to multiple generations. 
• Introduce new music while honoring church traditions. 
• Exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills. 
• Ability to foster unity among diverse musical preferences. 

HOURS AND SALARY: 

This position will be classified as a part-time, salaried employee offering a salary of $21,200.00, as approved by the Stewardship Committee and voted on by the church body.
