Associate Pastor/Music Minister Part Time

Overview

Sweetwater Baptist Church is seeking a Christ-centered Associate Pastor / Music Minister to join our ministry team in a part-time capacity. This role is ideal for someone called to serve through preaching, teaching, and leading worship, while embracing the flexibility to balance ministry with other life commitments. We are a congregation rooted in grace, truth, and Gospel transformation—and we’re praying for a leader who shares that heart.

This role is intentionally structured as a part-time, bi-vocational position with responsibilities scaled to fit the agreed-upon hours.

Hours & Availability

This is a salaried part-time position with flexible hours, requiring presence for:

    •    Sunday morning and evening services

    •    Wednesday evening programs

    •    Additional church functions and ministry events as needed

Qualifications

Applicants must:

    •    Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ with a clear testimony of faith

    •    Affirm and uphold the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)

    •    Have experience in preaching and teaching the Word of God

    •    Be gifted in music leadership, including vocal and/or instrumental ability

    •    Present an applicable degree and/or relevant ministry experience

    •    Demonstrate spiritual maturity, pastoral sensitivity, and a collaborative spirit

Ministry Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

    •    Plan and lead worship services that reflect theological depth and musical excellence

    •    Blend traditional hymns and contemporary worship to engage the full congregation

    •    Shepherd and develop the worship team (vocalists, musicians, tech volunteers)

    •    Coordinate music for special services and seasonal events

    •    Provide assistance with youth and children’s ensembles and programs, fostering   musical growth and spiritual development in younger generations

Pastoral Ministry

    •    Preach and teach as needed in Sunday services, Bible studies, or other gatherings

    •    Support the Senior Pastor in pastoral care, discipleship, and church-wide ministry

    •    Provide leadership and assistance to Ministry Team Leaders, encouraging unity and effectiveness across church ministries

    •    Offer pastoral oversight for youth activities, ensuring spiritual guidance, safety, and alignment with church vision

    •    Participate in planning church events and outreach efforts
