About Us
The Heights Baptist Church is a vibrant and growing Christian community committed to building

matters now and are passionate about investing in children and families through engaging, gospel-centered ministry environments.
The Children’s Pastor/Director will serve as part of the Next Generation Ministry Team, helping
children and families take meaningful next steps in following Jesus Christ. This position plays an
important role in creating a ministry culture where friends become family and where children, parents,
and volunteers are encouraged and equipped to grow in their faith together.
Key Responsibilities
• Spiritual Leadership: Provide Christ-centered spiritual leadership for the children’s ministry
by creating engaging environments where children can grow in their relationship with Jesus
Christ and understanding of God’s Word. Model a Christ-centered life while investing in the
spiritual growth and development of children, families, and volunteer leaders.
• Ministry Vision and Leadership: Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of children’s
ministry environments and initiatives, including weekly programming, special events, outreach
opportunities, WinShape Camp, and seasonal ministry experiences.
• Parent Partnership: Equip and encourage parents, grandparents, and guardians to be the
primary faith trainers in the home by providing practical resources, consistent communication,
and intentional support through every stage of childhood.
Work intentionally to create alignment between church ministry and home discipleship so
families are consistently encouraged in their faith journey throughout the week.
• Volunteer Recruitment and Development: Recruit, develop, and shepherd volunteer leaders
who are passionate about helping children know and follow Jesus. Build a healthy volunteer
culture where leaders feel equipped, encouraged, valued, and connected to the mission of the
church.
• Teaching and Discipleship: Teach biblical truths in engaging and age-appropriate ways that
help children apply God’s Word to their everyday lives. Foster ministry environments that
encourage worship, discipleship, prayer, evangelism, and lifelong faith development.
• Ministry Systems and Safety: Ensure children’s ministry environments are safe, welcoming,
organized, and well-supported through effective communication, volunteer development,
ministry systems, and child safety procedures.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Preschool Director, Next Generation Ministry Team, and
church staff to advance a unified discipleship strategy that aligns with the mission, vision, and
core values of The Heights Baptist Church.
• Community Engagement: Build relationships with families within the church and the
surrounding community through outreach opportunities, ministry events, school engagement,
and personal connections.
General Responsibilities
• Direct report to the Next Generation Pastor.
• Provide leadership and oversight for the Children’s Ministry Administrative Assistant and
ministry volunteers.
• Work in close collaboration with the Preschool Director and broader Next Generation Ministry
Team to provide continuity and alignment across ministries.
• Help support and advance the overall vision and discipleship strategy of the Next Generation
Ministry at The Heights Baptist Church.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, leadership meetings, and ministry planning meetings.
• Maintain a collaborative team spirit by supporting church-wide ministry initiatives and assisting
other ministry areas when needed.
• Participate in ministerial responsibilities as assigned by the executive staff leadership team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Next Generation Pastor
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in theology, ministry, education, or a related field.
Significant ministry leadership experience in a local church children’s or family ministry context
may be considered in lieu of specific degree emphasis.
• Seminary education is beneficial but not required.
• A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and a strong commitment to Christian values.
• Agreement with the theology, mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of The Heights Baptist
Church.
• Experience leading or serving within children’s ministry or family ministry environments.
• Demonstrates a passion for discipling children and partnering with families.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relational skills.
• A proven record of recruiting, leading, and developing volunteer teams effectively.
• Ability to work well within a collaborative, team-oriented ministry environment.
• Demonstrates humility, flexibility, initiative, teachability, and a commitment to ministry
excellence.
Schedule and Expectations
• This is a full-time ministry position that includes regular Sunday morning, Wednesday evening,
and occasional weekend ministry responsibilities.
• The regular office and ministry schedule is generally Monday through Thursday, with Friday
and Saturday as regular days off, except for special events, ministry activities, or seasonal
programming needs.
• The Children’s Pastor/Director is expected to maintain a flexible schedule that supports
ministry events, volunteer development, family engagement, and church-wide initiatives.
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement benefits, paid
vacation, and professional development opportunities.
