As our Communications Director, you will report to the Teaching Pastor. In this role, you will lead the strategic direction of content creation designed to support The Mount in effectively conveying what Following Jesus Together looks like in the church’s tactical day-to-day plans and broader vision strategy. As Communications Director, you will help drive the internal communications strategy among staff, elders, lay ministries, and all the church community and enable a church communications experience leading to exceptional engagement results. In this role, you will have direct impact on The Mount’s engagement with key communications and will have the opportunity to shape the church community’s experience of content through sermons, events, and online.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Strategic planning – You will collaborate with staff under the supervision of the Teaching Pastor to develop, execute, and manage an annual strategic communications plan that effectively supports the mission and vision of The Mount. You will develop and implement a strategic content plan that ensures consistency, clarity, and engagement across all church communications, with a strong emphasis on written content. You will monitor and adjust the plan and editorial calendar as needed based on engagement results. You will report on communications progress and socialize engagement results, learnings, and implications with the Teaching Pastor.
- Team leadership – You will collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams including writers, video/photographers, and graphic designers. You will manage the day-to-day interactions with these volunteers. You will serve as primary point of contact for staff, lay ministries, and church community as the key integrator for all communications efforts related to content, events, and announcements.
- Content creation – You will lead the creative development of written, digital, and multimedia content for print, email, social media, live-stream/video recording/production, and event support. You will write, edit, and oversee key communications, including weekly church emails, ministry updates, and event execution plans, ensuring alignment with the vision of The Mount and increased engagement across all platforms.
- Channel management – You will identify key communications channels, monitor the effectiveness, regularly evaluate opportunities, develop recommendations, support change management, and implement content across multiple channels.
Event administration – You will coordinate registration and on-site support for major as well as weekly church events. You will promote vision and strategy for event promotion and content, and deliver results through practical, disciplined execution.
Preferred Requirements Include:
- You are a follower of Jesus Christ with behavior and character consistent with biblical teaching.
- You affirm The Mount’s doctrinal beliefs and are ready to become a committed member of the church. As part of our staff, you actively lead your family in participating in the life of the church—through worship, community, service, and shared spiritual growth.
- You have 5+ years of ministry communications or creative arts experience.
- You are a results-oriented and relational leader who takes initiative and effectively distills strategy and varied sets of input to drive to decisions and follow through to execution, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver specific outcomes.
- You possess a strong digital marketing background, with proven experience managing websites and social media platforms. You also have a solid foundation in graphic design and are proficient with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other industry-standard design and content management platforms.
- You have demonstrated communications experience developing content for use in print, digital, social, and video for web, events, and email messaging.
- You make sound, timely decisions in managing the complex demands of high-visibility initiatives and channels, with keen attention to detail, and in response to leadership and ministry volunteers’ input to address issues and opportunities.
- You thrive on initiating, building, and cultivating strong, authentic relationships.
- You are highly collaborative, and you are one who navigates and activates alignment across ministry silos and builds engaged relationships with volunteers, staff, and leadership, while identifying, nurturing, and developing individuals and team expertise in emerging areas.
- You have exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and Christ-centered messaging for a variety of audiences, including staff, church members, and external partners. You are confident in writing for multiple formats, including newsletters, email campaigns, website content, and event materials.
- You have strong emotional restraint/maturity and comfort level with interacting at all levels from visitors and attendees, to ministry volunteers and leaders, to the elders and Teaching Pastor.
- You are able to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence with ministry partners.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts, Communications, Marketing, or a related field of study or equivalent experience.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package:
- Compensation includes a median salary of $70,000, depending on experience
401(k) with 3% match - Four weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO), inclusive of vacation, sick time, and ministry enrichment
