Come join our amazing team working in the Western NC mountains. Our dynamic and growing church is looking to fill the role of a full-time missions pastor. We are a 3 year old church that has seen the Lord do an incredible work. We launched with just over 130 people and now have on average between 600-700 people attending. We need highly skilled and qualified people to add to our amazing and growing team. Our Vision is “we are a people united, embracing the work of the Holy Spirit, striving to see lives transformed in our community, region, nation, and world”. Our mission is to be the church to the community. We are a multi-generational church that desires to reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Purpose of the Position

The function of the Missions Pastor is to oversee the missions ministry of a church and help provide outreach, growth, and support during times of crisis. This includes evangelical and charitable activities that may occur locally or abroad. Overseeing and organizing the efforts of other personnel (Mission Leadership Team), and building relationships with partnering mission organizations. The Mission Pastor will help provide a balanced program of ministry to all adults through programming LifeGroups, Prayer Groups, Missions, Outreach, Men’s and Women’s Ministry, Member Care, Connections, and Volunteer placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Missions
    • To provide leadership in the mission of The Orchard church by overseeing, communicating, and motivating The Orchard to be the church to the community. 
    • To serve as the point person for mission partnerships, community outreach organizations, and school partnerships.
    • To plan and organize mission trips both domestic and foreign, and train mission teams.
    • To lead evangelism training at least once per year.
    • To bring awareness to mission partners and opportunities, and to “tell the story” of the impact of missions.
    • To manage, develop, and maintain annual operational budgets for appropriate centers.
    • To develop lay-leaders to help manage in all responsibilities in alignment with Ephesians 4:11-12, equipping the saints.
    • To manage benevolence requests among church members and non-members.
    • Makes phone calls, home, and hospital visits when appropriate.
    • Available for families in times of grief.
    • Recruit leadership team members, mission team members, and other volunteers to help serve within the church. This is a vital piece of the success of this position.
  • Internships and Church Revitalization
    • To serve as the point person for training other churches in PLACE, vision casting, one-on-one discipleship – provide the right resources for training.
    • To oversee all revitalization and church plant efforts alongside the lead pastor.
    • To provide leadership to all team leaders in internships, revitalization, and planting/replanting efforts to help people to serve in their spiritual gifts. This includes recruiting, training, mobilizing, and informing volunteers and leaders.
    • Understanding the philosophy and operations of the church in order to teach it to others.
    • To help coordinate the connection of PLACE training participants to a place of volunteerism/service in the church.
    • To provide resources and options for connecting guests to The Orchard Church.
    • Give leadership to the interns. 
    • Meets and facilitates meetings with prospective members, assisted by other staff and deacons based on availability. 
    • Keeps accurate records of internship progress and church revitalization statistics.
    • Supports the concept of membership with the biblical qualifications of salvation and baptism.  
    • Coordinates and informs staff and deacons of member care needs and responsibilities.


  • Preferred Licensed or Ordained Minister. 
  • Evidence of moral character and a lifestyle that is consistent with that of The Orchard Church’s Constitution, Bylaws and Statement of Faith.
  • Minimum of (5) years’ experience in a church ministerial environment. 
  • Preferred experience would include a ministerial degree and a substantiated resume’ of Leadership Positions that have been held successfully.
