Church Overview:
Unity Baptist Fellowship (“UBF”) is a congregation of believers located in the town of Sophia, North Carolina.

About us

Ø  We are a Southern Baptist Church adhering to the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message.

Ø  Our church has been guided by 1 Pastor for the past 15+ years.

Ø  In 2023, our attendance was almost 3,300 on Sunday mornings, with an average weekly attendance of 64

Ø  In 2024, our attendance has been 2,308 on Sunday mornings, with a weekly average attendance of 68

Ø  For the past 5 years we have had an average membership of 64, and have baptized approximately 4 people a year during this time.

Ø  Unity Baptist Fellowship had its humble beginning in the basement of Charles and Pat White in the Hillsville community in the early 1970s. This faithful group of believers had the opportunity to purchase 3 acres of land from a large dairy farm, and held services in the dairy barn until 1987.  Through the years, it has continued to grow, requiring more spacious buildings.  Our mission statement of “Connecting People to Find Real Hope & New Life in Jesus” is demonstrated with Sunday morning worship services, Wednesday night bible study &prayer, small groups, children & youth ministries, as well as annual community outreach events, including VBS.

Ø  UBF is a place where the Word of God is preached. 

Leadership

Ø  Our church is led by the body of Deacons.  They assist the Pastor in promoting the spiritual welfare of the church, in conducting the religious services, and in performing all other work of the church. Our official staff is made up of the following:

o   President. Pastor of the Church

o   Vice President. Chairman of the Fellowship of Deacons

o   Treasurer. Elected by members

o   Secretary. Elected by members

o   Other roles as required. Elected by members

Job Summary:
As the Senior Pastor you will be expected to:

Ø  Fostering spiritual growth

Ø  Lead in the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ

Ø  Provide administrative leadership for the church

Ø  Pastoral care in counseling & meeting the needs of the people in the church, and in the community

Core Responsibilities:
Ø  Spiritual Leadership

o   The Pastor will provide leadership to the body of Deacons as they equip the congregation to fulfill the Great Commission and to accomplish the mission and vision of this church.  He will lead and equip the body of deacons so they can effectively lead the ministry teams of this church.  The Pastor is the overall spiritual leader of the congregation

Ø  Pastoral Care

o   The Pastor will provide care and support to members of the congregation, including counseling, visitation of the sick & elderly, and offering emotional and spiritual guidance during times of crisis

o   Facilitate bible studies, Sunday school classes & other education programs to help members deepen their understanding of the Christian faith.  Mentor and disciple individuals, helping them grow in their knowledge of the Bible and their commitment to living out the Christian principles

Ø  Community Outreach

o   Engage with the local community, seeking opportunities to serve and meet the needs of those outside the church.  Promote outreach programs, charitable initiatives and social justice efforts in alignment with the church’s mission

o   Encourage & equip members to share their faith and engage in evangelist and outreach efforts.

Ø  Equipping Leaders/Community

o   Identify and nurture the leadership potential within the congregation, training and equipping individuals to serve in various ministry roles.  Delegate responsibilities to capable leaders & empower them to carry out specific aspects of the church’s mission

Ø  Personal Spiritual Growth

o   Continually pursue personal spiritual growth, including prayers, Bible study, and spiritual disciplines, to set an example for the church

o   Stay informed about theological developments, trends in ministry, and relevant Pastoral skills through ongoing education and professional development

Ø  Proclaiming

o   The Pastor will preach and teach the Bible.  He will plan and coordinate the congregation services.  He will lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and our community.

Ø  Administering

o   The Pastor will provide direction and oversight to the administrative ministries of the church and give leadership to this team.  He will advise in the selection of members of the Deacons. 

Qualifications:
Ø  Evaluation will be based on the qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9

Ø  Agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message

Ø  Character above reproach, hospitable and a model of Godly living. 

Ø  Proven experience in Pastoral ministry and church leadership

Ø  Shepherd who will guard against false teaching & encourage our church to fulfill the Great Commission

Ø  Ability to inspire and engage the congregation
