Discipleship Pastor Full Time

General Description

The Discipleship Pastor will be an elder at Wake Cross Roads, meeting the biblical requirements of that office. The Discipleship Pastor will lead and coordinate the adult discipleship ministry of WCR toward a desired outcome of helping followers of Jesus grow as obedient disciples who will make and multiply disciples of others. The Discipleship Pastor should display a shepherd’s heart, possess strong organizational skills, and relate well to other staff members and church members.

Areas of Oversight

• Adult Sunday morning Bible Studies/Sunday School classes
• Men’s and Women’s ministries
• Weekday small group ministries
• Wednesday night adult equipping ministries
• Evangelism and Community Outreach ministries (for example; Bread of Life, Disaster Relief)

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and communicate a unified disciple-making strategy for WCR.
• Develop measurements to determine ministry effectiveness in our discipleship process of Worshipping, Connecting, and Reaching.
• Assess ministries for mission unity.
• Conduct regular trainings for evangelism and disciple-making.
• Recruit and develop new ministry volunteers and leaders.

General Responsibilities

• Participate in and use his spiritual gifts in the overall ministry of the church.
• Attend Elder meetings.
• Perform pastoral responsibilities of counseling, praying, and visiting members of WCR.
• Be able to preach and teach for Sunday morning classes and worship service.
